Do you like travelling?  Do you like being active and constantly pushing yourself more? If the answer to all of this is yes, then you should start cycling more. There are plenty of routes all around the globe waiting for you to check them out. It doesn’t matter whether you are a beginner or you’re pretty experienced on the road, you won’t have much trouble finding the perfect route for you. The best thing is that you’ll get the chance to see some of the most glorious sceneries across the world. You could also meet some locals and make friends among other cyclists as well. Here are some of the routes that will take your breath away when it comes to both scenery and the route itself!

Maratona dies Dolomiti

Europe is always a great idea, especially when it comes to cycling. With six major climbs and a course long 86 miles, Maratona dies Dolomiti is one of the most popular big mountain passes. The best news is that it is open to all riders, no matter which level you’re on.

Around 9,000 visitors take part in the ride every year. They get the chance to check out Passo Giau, Passo Pordoi, Passo Campolongo, Passo Sella, Passo Gardenia, and the Passo Valparola. The route is created in such a way that you can choose which course of the three you will take!

L’Étape du Tour

Another European country famous for its cycling routes is France, of course. One of many routes that you could hit in this gorgeous country is L’Étape du Tour. This 84 miles long course stretches from Albertville to Val Thorens and covers three pretty important climbs.

Cormet de Roseland, Côte de Longefoy, and Val Thorens are all in your way if you choose this journey. The true challenge though is at the very end of the ride – the final 22 miles you'll have to go uphill all the time. The only thing is – you'll have to register early since this is a very popular route!

Grinduro

There is no way to talk about magical scenery without mentioning Scotland. The best way to describe this country is picturesque. You will get your chance to see this for yourself the next time you go cycling there. You could enjoy the magic of both mountain bike enduro races and a gravel ride in Grinduro.

The Isle of Arran is where this ride takes place and you are bound to fall in love with it as soon as you get there. The 60 miles long route will allow you to see some amazing forest roads, historic ruins, and a rugged coastline. You could also check out the local two-day long party and meet the people and the place properly!

La Route Verde

If you’ve already cycled in Europe, you may want a change of scenery. You could go to Canada next. La Route Verde is just one of many rides there that could be a part of your next adventure. Over 3,200 miles long route is full of breath-taking landscapes.

The Canadian wilderness is at its best on this very route and you could be the lucky person to see it all! There are some pretty cool mountain and river views during the ride and there are some amazing wide-open spaces as well.

Death Ride tour

When it comes to the gorgeous American terrains, you shouldn’t forget about the States either. The Death Ride Tour is one in California that you should definitely try out. It takes place in the Sierra Nevada and this one isn't for the beginners really.

Markleeville is where the ride starts and it goes through Monitor, Ebbetts, and Carson passes. If you don’t feel like climbing all of these, you don’t have to. The roads are closed for the event, which means that you could witness the breathtaking landscapes in their full greatness.

Breck Epic

Another significant route in the US is the Breck Epic mountain bike stage race. This six days long event takes place in Breckenridge, Colorado. Daily, you can ride for 35 to 50 miles and face some pretty long climbs, as well as technical descents and exposed ridgelines.

If six days is too much for you, there are some three-day events during this time as well. All you need is a high-quality bike suitable for these terrains, a strong will, and a bit of condition. This is a rather challenging route, which makes it as rewarding as possible!

Absa Cape Epic

The next continent you might want to cycle through is Africa. Known for its scenic region, Western Cape is where Cape Epic takes place. The course, 435 miles long, is a combination of riding and climbing. You may find it a bit difficult if you don’t have much experience.

With the technical terrain, strenuous descents, and gravel roads, you’ll significantly improve your abilities while also taking in the wild scenery. This is a particular event since riders compete in teams of two. Make sure to pick the right teammate and win this race!

Toubkal

Another amazing travel route is Morocco. This country rich in culture has so much to offer. One such thing is one of the most beautiful rides in the world. Of course, the ride in question is Toubkal. This nine-day long ride covers about 425 miles.

The terrain is rather mountainous. You’ll need to train a lot for this ride, as there are plenty of uphill and downhill slopes. Pedaling through these regions will show you exactly what Morocco is – a wild and charming country. You could also check out coastal rides between Marrakech and the Sahara Desert and between Essaouira and Agadir.

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

When it comes to Asia, you shouldn't forget about Vietnam. This country set in the Southeast part of Asia has to offer one of the most inexpensive cycling opportunities. If you really wish to meet the locals and get an insight into their lives, make sure to travel from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh on a bike.

The 746 miles long road is ideal for building strength and endurance, as you will pass some very uneven roads. Make sure to take some breaks on the beautiful Vietnamese beaches. You will also see Hai Van Pass on the road.

Munda Biddi Trail

Finally, Australia also has to offer some pretty cool cycling routes. One such course is the Munda Biddi Trail. The name of the course translates to “path through the forest” from the native Aboriginal language.

That is the best way to describe the route as well. It is long 200 miles and it will take you through eucalyptus forests. If you're lucky, you may see some gray kangaroos and western brush wallabies. While you're there, try to check out the other famous route as well – Tasmania.

Conclusion

Cycling is one of the best sports out there. You are constantly working out and getting better, but that’s not everything. You also get the chance to meet people and regions all around the globe. For every travel enthusiast, cycling is the number one sport. Whatever route you choose among there, you’ll have the time of your life and you’ll come back home richer than ever!
