My four year stay in the University taught me that there were some basic things I cannot do without. Buying of hand outs, keeping other lecture materials and staying in touch with colleagues when you’re absent are skills you should arm yourself with if you want to succeed as a university student in Ghana.

One thing you must always keep with you is a technological device. These devices make work and life on campus easier. Studying becomes like snapping your finger. The more gadgets you have and the ability to use them, the better. But there are three basic gadgets that are easy to come by and very handy. The rest are not really necessary.

3 basic devices you need as a university student in Ghana

1. Laptop

When I was pursuing a degree from the university, having a laptop made work easier. Most of our assignments had to be typed and printed while we were made to send others via email. This happens in every University in Ghana.

If you don’t have a laptop, it means you’ll have to borrow and you know how inconvenient that is, don’t you? Moreover, studying from home becomes easier with a laptop. But you need a good one for that matter.

2. Smartphone

You can barely do anything without a smartphone these days, can you?

From making money from apps that run on them to staying connected with friends, smartphones come in handy at all points in time.

This is no different from your university education. In fact, if you don’t have a laptop, you MUST have a smartphone. This will help you share documents with colleagues. Aside that, you can send  and receive quick emails from lecturers and the school.

You need a good smartphone for this though.

3. Noise-Cancelling Headphones

This may look more like a peripheral but hey, when you start finding it difficult to get a quiet place to study, you will appreciate this device. You will be able to sit in a noisy environment and even not feel a pinch of destruction with this baby in your ear.
