5 Tricks to Look Better In Your Corporate Headshot
Today’s advice is by our corporate headshot photographer on preparing ourselves aesthetically to be happier with your next corporate photoshoot session.
- Should I wear glasses in my LinkedIn photo?
You cannot imagine how many times they ask us this question before taking a photo. Should I keep my glasses, or should I take them off?
When we talk about photos for a professional profile, you should always look for maximum naturalness. If you usually wear glasses in a work environment, you should also wear them in your corporate portrait. Of course, you should clean them very well before the session, to avoid uncomfortable glare with the lights.
Some people only wear glasses to watch television or when they are working on the computer. In that case, you can decide to wear them or not, depending on what feels more natural to you.
You can ask yourself a question to decide. If they asked colleagues by profession with whom you have a relationship if you wear glasses, what would they answer?
- If the answer is yes, or sometimes, I will put the glasses on the portrait.
- If the answer is no or I think no, I would go without them.
Eye! One last detail with the glasses: if you are not going to put them on, make sure you take them off for a long time before the session. This way, we will avoid the reddish marks that usually remain on the sides of the nose with the shape of the glasses.
- We all have a good side.
Are you one of the people who have a clear best side for photos? Tell the corporate headshot photographer. All the information you know about yourself and your story with the photos will help that portrait come out better. If you don't like the way your glasses fit, you prefer not to smile. In the photos on the right side, you look weird, etc. They are very useful things so that the photographer can use them to take better photos of you.

- The makeup
As we mentioned before, we are talking about a photograph for a professional profile. Ideally, it would be best if you were as natural as possible.
As in the case of glasses, if you usually wear very characteristic makeup (shadow of a specific color or red lipstick), use it. But don't change the way you do your makeup just because you're going to take photos.
- How to avoid shine on the skin
If we are going to do the corporate photoshoot with artificial lighting (spotlights or flashes) or hot during the session, it is essential to talk about the shine on the skin.
If we are indoors, we normally use the light from the spotlights to achieve constant illumination and avoid shadows that can spoil the portrait. In return, this causes the glitter to appear on the face.
We can correct this with makeup (as they usually do in film or television). But you can also take the trick to go through the bathroom and wash your face just before your photos (drying it well afterward).
You can use a washcloth to avoid glare on your skin before taking a portrait.
- Your hairstyle and you

So our tips on how to wear hair to your corporate photoshoot are:
- Try to style your hair as best as possible when you leave the house, and touch up the hairstyle again before the photos.
- If you want to cut your hair, it is better to do it 2 or 3 days before the session (this advice also applies to the beard).
- You can take your comb to touch up the hairstyle. If you also have several changing rooms for the session, you highly recommend that you do so.
