3. Implementation of the tourism plan up to 2030
What this state was lacking was a tourism plan that could be continued regardless of changes in municipal or state administrations. With this objective in mind, more than 3,000 people involved in the tourism industry met and agreed on the MASTER PLAN FOR TOURISM IN QUINTANA ROO, a plan designed until the year 2030, with the objective of positioning each of the state's destinations with a strategy of vocation and action.
For Tulum the line of action is that of consolidation, a stage where we seek the development of innovative products, that discover new segments and bring us closer to new markets that are linked to sustainability, it is not only a matter of the environment, but of society, said Marisol Venegas. Another great news that was shared, is the importance of Quintana Roo as a destination worldwide, since Quintana Roo was chosen as the venue for the 20th Global Summit organized by WTTC (WORLD TRAVEL & TOURISM COUNCIL) where the most important CEOs of the world meet from April 25th to 27th in Cancun Quintana Roo to announce the reactivation of world tourism, this destination was chosen for the amount of efforts, protocols and certifications that were implemented before and during the pandemic of covid 19. Today those efforts rewarded us by hosting this important project.
5. Consolidation as one of the most important destinations in the world.
The entire tourism sector together with the government have implemented prevention protocols in the face of the covid 19 pandemic in order to keep tourism and the state's economy active. During Easter week this year we received more than 652 thousand tourists in Quintana Roo. In Tulum hotel occupancy has been above 70% since the beginning of the year 2021 and now during Easter week our occupancy managed by GMB Rentals is at 100%. This shows the great potential that Quintana Roo has as a tourist destination and the security for investors to choose Tulum.
6. First hurricane protection insurance in the world.
For the second consecutive year, the government of Quintana Roo has protected beaches and reefs in the state with a parametric insurance against hurricanes that will provide the necessary funds for a quick recovery from hurricane damage. This insurance is controlled through sensors that measure the speed of winds and waves, measuring the damage and thus the percentage of compensation to cover recovery costs. It is worth mentioning that today Quintana Roo is the first tourist destination to have hurricane insurance. This provides investors and the tourism sector with the security of always having the best beaches for vacationers.
7. First circular economy law
In terms of sustainability, the Law for the Prevention, Integral Management and Circular Economy of Quintana Roo was approved throughout Quintana Roo, a law that highlights the prohibition of single-use plastics and the integration of sustainable processes in industries, for example, a company that produces tires, is required to implement sustainable processes from the raw material, collection and recycling of tires. With this law we seek to have a better environmental education and continue cultivating a sustainable destiny in contact with nature.
8. Tulum seeks to venture into new industries
One of the objectives of the state's public policy is the search for the development of the film industry in Quintana Roo, where Tulum can stand out for its incredible architecture, green landscapes, beaches, besides being one of the 132 magical towns in Mexico and one of the three magical towns in Quintana Roo. Today we already have the first cinematography council so that film production can be promoted and made in Quintana Roo. We are also looking to venture into other markets such as art, environment and literature, to provide a more developed destination, with a greater tourist offer and if today Tulum is already competing with destinations such as Ibiza, Bali, Abudabi among others, in the near future Tulum will be a global benchmark for top tourism.
