A ninja costume should be concealing, dark and comfortable. This is the best way to execute your ninja moves. If you have a black turtleneck, a thin black robe and black cargo pants, you can easily make a ninja outfit. You will also need a black ribbon, a black scarf, black boots, black gloves and a long-sleeved black t-shirt. Get four black or red t-shirts to create the pant guards of your costume. You will also need a few ninja accessories such as fake throwing stars and your costume will be good.
Create the ninja pants and top
Start by tucking a black turtleneck into a pair of cargo pants. Now slip into a long-sleeved black shirt (turtleneck). Pull on a pair of straight-fit cargo pants. They should be slightly loose. If you do not have a black turtleneck, you can use a white one. Ensure you change the other details of the costume to white if you decide to use a white turtleneck. If you do not have black cargo pants then you should try black tights, leggings or skinny jeans.
Tie a piece of black ribbon over your pants at each ankle
Cargo pants are straight fit. However, ninja pants taper at the ankles. If you want to get the same effect, use a black piece of ribbon to tie your pants off above the ankles. The knots should be tied securely.
Obtain a short black rob or a black kimono
You can buy this with your costumes online. However, a real kimono is expensive but you can substitute it with a short black satin robe. You can find these at your local department store or online. Make sure it has a belt. If you cannot find a black satin robe then you should look for one that has unique detailing in bright colours such as blue, red, white and green. Minimal floral details in the colours will do fine. You could also get the darkest solid colour you can find.
Put your robe over the turtleneck and the cargo pants
You should slip it on like you would wear a regular robe and arrange it until you are comfortable. Now, fasten the belt at the waist.
Wear a pair of gloves
When it comes to gloves, any material will do as long as it is black. You can choose knit, wool or leather. Tuck the wrist part of your gloves into the sleeves of the black turtleneck.
Wear a scarf around your torso
After getting a scarf around your upper torso, the front will look like a wide belt. You should take the ends of the scarf and tie them tightly behind you. Use pins to secure your scarf in place.
Make the mask and hood
If you cannot get a mask for your ninja costume cheaply, you can make your own. Wear a long-sleeved t-shirt and ensure you stop above the nose and ears. Now pull the back of the shirt over the forehead. Tie the sleeves behind your head and you are good to go.
