It is needless to say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been built and popularized by its aura of powerful superheroes. It was started by Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, then Chris Evans’ Captain America joined and raised the bar a little. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor raised the bar even further. This is not to mention that Edward Norton’s portrayal of Hulk (the character of course later went to Mark Ruffalo) has established an impregnable legacy.

Only later did the superheroes like Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy joined in and made the franchise a hell of a deal at Hollywood.

Nevertheless, we do not need to remind ourselves that superheroes aren’t the only thing that has made MCU what it is today. The credit should also go to the villains (Thanos, of course) in making things look interesting and enthralling. Without them, the heroes would have no purpose, and the stories would become monotonous if not non-existent.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has produced a brilliant assemble of antagonist characters. From Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) to Helmut Zemo (played by Daniel Bruhl), from Yellow Jacket (Corey Stoll) to universe boss Thanos (played by Josh Brolin), the MCU hasn’t been under par with its production of villains.

This is not to mention the iconic portrayal of Erik Killmonger (played by Michael B. Jordan). No matter whether the villains win or lose in the film, they always have a verified actor playing them, which makes it for a splendid theater experience.

Fans are always found to be theorizing on the internet on who should be the next actor to play the antagonist role in the latest adventure. While they know some of their theories would never come true, it hasn’t stopped them from making their thoughts clear on the casting. Of course, they do not have to care about the budget.

And looper.com has recently published a report, in which they have given some numbers from the recent poll, in which fans got to voice their opinions on who should be the next premium actor (after Christian Bale) to sign a deal with Marvel for the villainous character. And one of the actors they have chosen for the antagonist character is none other than Ghost Rider actor Nicolas Cage.

Looper recently ran a poll on their YouTube channel asking people to vote for the premium actor they wish to see in a Marvel film. Nicolas Cage was one of the names they had chosen as their favorites.

Though the number is average, some people do want to see Cage play a villainous character in the forthcoming MCU film. Leonardo DiCaprio (25%) was, of course, the winner among them all regardless of the fact that he is unlikely to ever be a part of a superhero film. Nicolas Cage was in the second position with little over 16% votes to his name. Liam Neeson was near to Cage at 16%. Other names included in the list were Melissa McCarthy, Russell Crowe, and Rowan Atkinson.

Meanwhile, Christian Bale has surprisingly joined the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder as the solitary villain.
