Planning a Kashmir tour package sounded simple at first. But we didn't want the trip to feel like a checklist where we rushed from one place to another. We wanted to slow down, enjoy the views, and actually experience the beauty of Kashmir.
And that's exactly how our journey began.
The First Glimpse of Srinagar
The moment we arrived in Srinagar, the weather felt different. The air was cool, the surroundings were peaceful, and mountains stood quietly in the distance.
After settling in, we headed towards Dal Lake.
The lake was calmer than we had imagined. As our shikara slowly moved across the water, everything around us seemed to become quieter. Colourful houseboats floated nearby, the mountains reflected on the water, and a gentle breeze made the moment even more peaceful.
We didn't talk much during the ride. There wasn't really a need to.
Sometimes, the best travel memories are the ones where you simply sit and look around.
Getting Lost in the Beauty of Gulmarg
The next part of our journey took us towards Gulmarg.
The drive itself was beautiful. Tall trees lined the roads, the landscape slowly changed as we climbed higher, and the mountains seemed to get closer with every turn.
Gulmarg had a completely different atmosphere.
We spent hours walking around, taking photographs and enjoying the mountain views. Depending on the season, the landscape can look dramatically different—from lush green slopes to snow-covered surroundings.
For a while, we forgot about our phones, schedules and everything waiting for us back home.
It felt good to simply be there.
The Quiet Charm of Pahalgam
Our next stop was Pahalgam.
If Gulmarg made us excited, Pahalgam made us slow down.
The valley was surrounded by beautiful mountains and tall pine trees. The sound of flowing water added to the peaceful atmosphere.
We walked around without worrying about where we had to be next. Every few minutes, we found another view worth photographing.
One of my favourite moments was sitting quietly and watching the mountains.
Nothing extraordinary happened that afternoon—and perhaps that's exactly why it became one of the most memorable parts of the trip.
More Than Just Beautiful Views
Before visiting Kashmir, we had mostly seen photographs of its famous landscapes.
But after experiencing it ourselves, we realised that Kashmir is not only about beautiful places.
It's about the little things too.
It's the warmth of a cup of tea on a cold morning.
It's watching the sun disappear behind the mountains.
It's conversations during long road journeys.
It's stopping randomly because the view outside the window is too beautiful to ignore.
Those are the moments that photographs cannot completely capture.
Saying Goodbye to Kashmir
Eventually, it was time to leave.
On our final evening, we went back to Dal Lake. The sky was changing colours, and the mountains looked softer in the fading light.
We sat there quietly, thinking about everything we had experienced during the journey.
Kashmir had started as a destination on our travel list, but by the end of the trip, it felt like a collection of memories we would carry with us.
Maybe that's the real magic of travelling.
You visit a place expecting to see something beautiful, but sometimes you return home with something much more valuable—a story worth remembering.
