A lot of us often want to adopt puppies like the Chihuahuas. We see a lot of celebrities with Chihuahua dogs in their arms, showing them off to the world. However, this dog is not a dog for everyone. A lot of people would probably raise their brows over this statement.

In this article, we are going to write down some of the reasons why Chihuahua is not the breed for everyone. If you read down below, you might be able to know why these people should and should not have a Chihuahua in their homes. Let’s have a look at ilovechihuahua: –

Families with Younger Children

If you have a family with younger children then the Chihuahua is not the best dog breed for you. This is because kids tend to treat this dog breed like stuff toys. Considering that the Chihuahua is small and fragile, your kids are probably going to break your Chihuahua’s bones.

Families with Bigger dogs

One of the things that you need to remember is that most (not all) Chihuahuas don’t like being with bigger dogs. This is because of their Napoleonic Complex; these dogs tend to chew off the bigger dogs. However, if you do want to have a Chihuahua in your home, then you should consider socializing them. Socialization plays a crucial role in your Chihuahua’s upbringing.

People with dogs before

People who have dogs before are probably the best Chihuahua owner candidates. This is because they have more experience in dealing with different kinds of dogs. Experienced owners tend to know what to do with them when they act up or how to house train them in the best ways possible.

The Elderly

Other perfect Chihuahua owners are the elderly. Believe it or not, the elderly are also the perfect companions for this breed. This is because Chihuahuas don’t need a lot of exercises.  Although you might have to train them early on, this dog breed loves to stay indoors.  They are not as energetic compared to other dog breeds

Financially stable individual

This might sound stereotyping, but this dog breed needs someone who can take care of their needs. Chihuahuas do have several health issues including their genetic defect.  Aside from that, they do have a fragile built. Thus, it is important to have dog owners who can afford to take care of their health and overall well-being.

Conclusion

Chihuahuas are not the dogs for everyone. This dog breed may seem too easy to take care of. However, with the personality and their health, then you might have to reconsider adopting one. So before adopting a Chihuahua, make sure that you do ask yourself if you are ready to deal with a forever bratty toddler in your home.
