Candidates can pursue research in their respective postgraduate disciplines after qualifying for NET-JRF. They enrol in PhD programmes at various universities/institutes and IIMs after selecting universities/colleges from NET Coordinating Institutes.
Job Opportunities in the UGC NET JRF Program
No degree or certificate can ever stop you from pursuing your dreams, even if they are unrelated to what you’ve previously studied.
I’ve seen people with engineering degrees and 20 years of work experience pursue their dreams of becoming actors, so it’s hard for me to list all of the employment choices available to you because, believe me, you can be anything you want.
So let’s simply say I’ll list the ones that correlate with the UGC NET JRF:
1. Assistant Professor — After passing the UGC NET exam, most students’ first choice is to pursue their dream of becoming a college professor.
You can work as an assistant professor at any private or public university after passing the NET exam. However, starting in July 2021, you will need a Ph.D. to become an Assistant Professor, according to UGC regulations. The pay scale is clearly determined by the university with whom you work.
2. Researcher — If you’ve always wanted to be in charge of your own work, becoming a researcher is definitely up your alley.
Choose a topic about which you are extremely enthusiastic and which has the potential to grow into a long-term effort.
You never know if you attain enough credibility in your project, you can find huge organizations that believe in your research and would provide you with enough resources and techniques to brush your skills.
3. Public Sector Job (PSU) — Most of you are unaware of the fact that many UGC NET JRF holders can go for a Public Sector Job.
