With the launch of the modified 2021 Nissan Navara in November 2020, the battle for pickup trucks has become increasingly fierce. The outdated D23 Navara will soon be sold out in Malaysia, and the new 2021 model is expected to be launched here soon.

A source close to the matter told WapCar.my that the current Navara inventory is almost sold out, indicating that an updated version is coming soon.

The current version of Navara is the oldest model in the field and will be launched in 2015. In contrast, its recent competitors have all recently gotten a new look: Isuzu D-Max and Mitsubishi Triton were updated in 2019, while Toyota Hilux adopted a new engine last year.

Don't forget that we will definitely see more competitors this year, such as the Mazda BT-50 and the modified Ford Ranger.

However, when the new Navara is launched here, it is estimated to be a bit tricky. As Covid-19 and the resulting Motion Control Order (MCO) have caused severe damage in the Malaysian automotive industry, there is no exact timetable for the start-up-what we know is that this is happening this year.

2021 Nissan Navara facelift specs

The facelifted Navara has a completely redesigned appearance, and the high-end variants have LED headlights on the side of the brand's iconic V-Motion front panel.

On the sides are new wheels, and LED taillights with a unique logo pattern (only on some variants) make the visual effect more prominent.

Inside, the new Navara uses the steering wheel of the Nissan family, as seen in the Nissan X-Trail facelift and the new Nissan Almera.

Comfortable creatures include zero-gravity front seats (a feature we like in Almera) and a 7-inch digital display located between the gauge gauges.

On the Thai-spec Navara, buyers will get an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and will play music through a 6-speaker setup.

At the same time, as Nissan installed more sound insulation materials to supplement the noise-reducing glass used for windshields and front windows, the comfort level should be further improved.

In Thailand, the facelifted Navara retains a 2.3-liter twin-turbocharged engine (190 PS / 450 Nm), which is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. However, it remains to be seen whether this engine will replace the 2.5-liter engine (also 190 PS/450 Nm) currently used in Malaysian-spec cars.

In terms of safety, the Thai-spec Navara is equipped with a healthy Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with the following functions:

  • Intelligent Surround View Monitor (IAVM) with off-road monitor (360 degree cam)
  • Forward collision warning (FCW)
  • Autonomous emergency braking (AEB)
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Intelligent Lane Intervention (ILI)
  • Blind Spot Warning (BSW)
  • Rear intersection warning (RCTA)
  • High beam assist (HBA)

Still-please note that all specifications here reflect the specifications on Thai-spec cars, and the specifications may be different when Navara is shipped to Malaysia. Look at this space!
