Manali used to be the backpacking capital of India. The popular hippie trail included a dirt road from Manali to Kullu. It is difficult to imagine Manali today as a backpacker's dream destination. Manali has become a popular hill station in India, with tourists flocking to it in both summer and winter.

Manali is a great place to explore for all types of travelers. Family looking to bond, couples seeking peace and quiet, solo travelers searching for solitude, or friends looking for adventure.

Manali is home to many activities.

Visit the Rohtang Pass

If you're returning from the higher Himalayan valleys in Spiti or Ladakh, you will have already crossed the king of Himalayan passes during your Leh-Manali journey. Or, if you chose to take the Manali Kaza route from Spiti valley.

If you don't, reserve a day for Rohtang Pass at Manali. Enjoy the lush green roads that lead to snow. The snow is never melting at parts of the Rohtang Pass. This means that what you see and feel in your hands could be old snow. Play in the snow like a child again.

Listen to the Beas sing

Manali Tour Package  is home to the river Beas, which flows through Manali. It will likely dominate your Manali stay. As the river gushing, you can enjoy your morning tea on the lawns overlooking the river. Birdsong makes the river sing.

This is a time to enjoy with your loved ones, your partner or just yourself. As the mountains disappear in the clouds, open a book to get lost in it. You can also pack your bags and go rafting down the river.

Learn how to pick your own fruit or the market for fruits

Apples are the ultimate fruit. Manali is home to many fruits, so you're sure to find one.

You can arrange a visit to the orchard, or tour the fruit markets that transport fruits throughout the country in the summer months.

Relax in the Himalayan spas

You can find the Vashisht hot water springs just outside Manali package, where you can relax in the beautiful forests.

You can also make a day of it by going all the way to Manikaran. This is a sacred place for both the Hindus as well as the Sikhs. The piping hot, medicated waters will rejuvenate you. If you decide to spend the night in Manikaran, there are many options for accommodation.

Take a day trip to Parvati Valley

  • Get up early for the Manali trip in the morning. Continue on to Kullu, Bhuntar, and finally the Parvati Valley.
  • This landscape is capable of turning a 3-hour drive into an eight-hour-long photo-ops-filled journey. As you travel deeper into the Parvati valley, the road becomes more steep. The first signs of stone houses with slate roofs begin to appear.
  • A few tourist spots are located here like Kasol or Malana, which can also be used to lead to multi-day Himalayan treks such as the Chanderkhani.

We don't recommend these short, quick trips. Parvati valley is worth a lengthy trip by itself. We are happy to help you if you're returning from a long, exhausting trip to Ladakh and Spiti, or just want to explore more of Manali. Do it.

You can continue on to Manikaran, or you can turn left at Pulga. Remember that you will need to return the vehicle. Driving in the dark may not be an option. Safety shouldn't be secondary to the enjoyment.

Local Manali “sightseeing”

  • On one of your evenings in Manali, walk up to the Hidimba Temple. It is a short walk through beautiful forests.
  • Old Manali is connected to Manali market by a beautiful forest walk. As you walk along the Beas river, many birds will follow you. It is hard to believe that only a few meters separates the road from you.
  • To get your adrenaline pumping, you can spend some time at the Solang Valley
  • Naggar palace is well preserved, and will satisfy the history buff in all of you.

Above all, be an explorer in Manali. Don't limit yourself to the obvious. There are many trails around Manali. If you don't see one that interests you, ask a local. You will find out where it leads and how difficult or easy it is. Armed with this information, follow your heart.

That is why travel is so important.

Manali: Where can you stay?

  • Avoid the Mall Road and the Market. This is our top tip on where to stay in Manali.
  • Naggar Road offers many options for comfortable, quiet stays in Manali. Snow Bliss Manali, a lovely home with many rooms, is available in many combinations. This is our top recommendation for Manali.
  • It's a good idea to rent a vacation home if you are traveling with your family, friends or large group of people (especially children). You can find your Manali homestay and enjoy the sounds of the Beas River, the fragrance of deodar trees, and the company and magic of the Himalayas.
  • Old Manali is a great place to backpack. This part of Manali has many hostels and guesthouses, as well as adventure shops. It is quite different from the one that you will see in the market. Here are all the major hostel chains of India, such as Moustache, Backpacker Panda, and Zostel. There are also a few boutique hostels in Old Manali.
  • Manali is now a year-round tourist destination. These Manali Honeymoon packages are a great option for memorable holidays, especially if you're planning your honeymoon.
