Android 11 is the latest update of Google’s mobile operating system. It was released on the 8th of September this year. It is packed with multiple unique features that offer robust device controls optimized specially for your smartphone. This update is available only on a bunch of selected devices, such as Pixel phones, OnePlus, Oppo Find, and more. To know more details about the fantastic features, check the list given below:

Built-In Screen Recorder

Android 11 eliminates the requirement of a third-party screen recording app. Google took its time to introduce a built-in screen recorder, and now that it’s finally here, you get a few tools in it. The screen recording feature comes with a Quick Setting Panel so that you can access it easily with a swiping down twice from the top of the screen, or swipe down once with two fingers. It won’t appear on screen by default, so you have to tap on the Pencil icon on the Quick Settings for editing. Scroll the screen to the bottom and drag Screen Record to the list. You can drag it anywhere you want.

When you tap on the option, you’ll see a warning reminding you that the recording will capture sensitive information on-screen. You can also enable the Record Audio feature and grant permission for whether it can record from your microphone, your device audio, or both. Turn on Show Touches on Screen to display markers on the place you touch. A countdown status bar and a red dot will show you the recording progression. To stop recording, open the notification bar and click on Screen Recorder. The recordings will save into a new Movies file in your system storage. You can share and edit your recordings as well.

Message Notification

Until now, the message notifications weren’t as good, and people had trouble finding the latest and important messages of all. Now, that problem has been resolved with Android 11. An update in the OS has now made it easy to keep track of all the conversations. Each messaging app has its unique place in the Conversation section of Notifications shade. It will get easier to check the on-going conversations without losing track of it.n

Moreover, you can now mark specific conversations as a priority. To do so, press and hold on a conversation notification and choose a new Priority option. This option will show the conversation at the top of the list, enable bubbles, and display their messages on the lock screen.

You can also remove an app from the Conversations menu from your phone’s settings. To do this, go to Setting and click on Apps & Notifications. Then, click on Conversations to see all the changes you have made in conversations. Select either one of them and choose Not a Conversation. It will remove it from that section.

Check Your Notification History

When you are in a hurry and accidentally swipe away a notification without checking it properly, you fall in the chances of never knowing how important that notification could be for your phone’s health, work, etc. Android 11 has found a solution to this in its notification history menu. But you’ll need to enable it before your phone starts collecting all the notifications. To enable it, go to your phone’s Settings and click on Apps & Notifications. Now, click on Notifications and select Notification History. Then, turn off the Use Notification History feature. You can now check the list of all the notifications from the last 24 hours, including the ones you dismissed.

Improved Smart Home Controls

Since smart home devices have started to become a common part of everyone’s life, Android wants to make the controls easy and accessible for you. Using Android 11’s power menu with any smart home tool’s shortcuts, you can access the controls from your phone.

To do so, press and hold the Power button for a few seconds until you see your smart home devices under your home’s name. Now, tap on them to establish communication. You can switch between multiple homes by using the text at the top. Click on the three-dot menu button to add new controls and edit the existing ones. In case you can’t find your smart home devices, you have to add and configure those devices manually.

Google Play Updates

From now on, all the Google Play System updates will be available on Google Play. This way, everyone will receive faster access to the security patches, and you wouldn’t have to reboot your smartphone to apply them. You can now pin the apps for more rapid accessibility. By pressing and holding a particular app, you can stick the app on the share sheet and choose Pin to keep that app on top. There are various other minor changes and updates on the Android 11 that will make it easy to access all the functions in seconds. It is currently available only in a few devices, so before downloading the update, make sure that you check your device’s compatibility.
