AP + Co Collective, founded by clinician Angela Prior, is expanding access to specialized mind-body care that recognizes an important reality of recovery: understanding what happened is not always enough. For many people, meaningful change also involves learning to feel safer, more connected, and more present in their bodies.

Now celebrating 10 years of growth, the practice brings together clinical counselling, mindful movement, and specialized practitioners within a collaborative, trauma-informed environment. Angela Prior brings more than 16 years of clinical experience and specializes in trauma, eating disorders, chronic health conditions, somatic therapies, and Intuitive Eating.

A More Practical Approach to Embodied Healing

Embodied Healing is not simply about adding mindfulness to traditional counselling. AP + Co's approach considers how emotions, stress responses, movement, personal history, and relationships with food and the body can interact.

For example, someone may understand intellectually that they are safe today while still experiencing tension, avoidance, shutdown, or difficulty identifying what they need. Therapy can create space to notice these responses without treating the body as something that needs to be "fixed."

This is also where questions such as how to release trauma from the body require nuance. Trauma is not a substance that can simply be removed through one exercise. Instead, trauma-informed care can help people develop greater awareness, regulation, safety, and resilience through approaches such as somatic therapy, Brain spotting, mindfulness, yoga-informed practices, and talk therapy.

Holistic Wellness Counselling With Real-World Context

AP + Co describes holistic care as looking at the full picture rather than isolating one symptom. Care may involve collaboration with other professionals, including psychiatrists, eating-disorder dietitians, trauma specialists, and other wellness providers when appropriate.

For clients rebuilding their relationship with food, an Intuitive Eating Counsellor can help shift the focus away from dieting, weight-based judgment, and rigid food rules toward a more compassionate, body-aware relationship with eating. AP + Co maintains a non-diet, weight-inclusive framework across its clinical and movement offerings.
