Apple has finally launched its hardware product of 2020, thereby putting an end to the endless amount of discussions, rumors, and leaks. The recently launched AirPods Max is the first-ever headphones by Apple. This over-ear gadget comes with active noise cancelation and supports Spatial Audio, Adaptive EQ, and more. The AirPods Max, no doubt, is available at a price comparatively higher than other well-recognized noise-canceling headphones that are currently present in the market.
Design
The AirPods Max is designed in a way similar to that shown in the leaked CAD renders. As per the leaks, they were assumed to be having the name “AirPods Studio.” The newly launched over-ear headphones by Apple feature a headband of stainless steel with a knitted mesh canopy. Apple states that this mesh design will reduce on-head pressure and easily fit various head sizes and shapes.
The memory foam premium-designed earcups carry a comfortable and shiny matte finish. They offer a feature similar to the one in the Apple Watches, which gives you the ability to play and pause the video alongside precise volume control. It also lets you accept/end calls, activate Siri, and skip tracks.
Sound Quality
As stated by Apple, the AirPods Max feature a custom acoustic design. Both the earcups come with an Apple-designed 40mm driver. They offer impressive sound with rich deep bass, accurate mid-range alongside a clean & crisp high-frequency extension. This has been published in a blog post by Apple.
AirPods Max is powered by the H1 chip of the company in both the ear cups. The H1 chip is a 10-core audio chip that can provide a computational audio breakthrough that produces over 9 billion operations in one second, thereby providing AirPods, a computational audio breakthrough.
Apple’s H1 chip offers a lot of impressive features on this newly launched active noise-canceling headphones. The AirPods Max supports Transparency mode, spatial audio, audio sharing, Adaptive EQ, and more. You will already be knowing about these features if you would have used the AirPods previously.
Features
Apple states that the ear cups are equipped with three outward-facing and one microphone on the inside. The three outer microphones help detect environmental noise and disturbances; the inner microphone monitors the audio that is reaching the listener’s ear. All the data gets combined, and further, it adapts the active noise cancellation based upon the fitting, noise, and movement.
Battery Life
Apple states that the AirPods Max offers up to 20 hours of playback. If you want to obtain more from playback time, you can disable the spatial audio and active noise cancellation feature. These AirPods can be charged from the proprietary Lightning port of the company and not with the USB Type-C.
AirPods Max: Price and Availability
To get your hands on the AirPods Max, you need to pay a price of $549. The headphones are now available for pre-orders and are all set to be launched for sale from December 15 onwards. You can opt from among five different color variants: silver, green, sky blue, pink, and space grey.
