Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS-funded support that provides help with day-to-day tasks so that the participants can enjoy independent living and build their skills. A support worker will help the participant with personal care activities, cooking, cleaning, shopping etc. Assistance with travel for meeting friends and family or attending community activities is also included in SIL depending on the participant’s NDIS plan.  SIL is recommended for people who want support throughout the day. This is a suitable option if you are living with other participants and sharing your supports with them. If you want to live alone or live with someone who is not an NDIS participant, then there may be better NDIS living options available for you. A registered NDIS service provider can help you understand which living option will best suit your needs.
