UWatchfree

If you're looking for something Christmassy to watch movies online uwatchfree this week leading up to Christmas but don't want to just watch your old favourites, why not try this charming, thoughtful animated UWatchfree original that won the hearts of many Christmas fans when it came out in 2023?

It was up for Best Animated Film at the Oscars, which is easy to understand. The lazy son of the postmaster general is played by Jason Schwartzman. His father sends him to the deserted island of Smeerensburg to open a post office and prove himself. There, he meets Klaus, a reclusive woodsman played by J.K. Simmons. Together, they decide to change the town by giving gifts to the kids there.

Troll

Many of us are switching our streaming habits to full-on Christmas mode, but an unlikely movie has climbed to the top of Netflix's list.

Troll is a new horror movie based on Norwegian folklore. It is about a mysterious, huge creature that has been trapped for a thousand years deep inside the mountain of Dovre.

The creature is getting close to the capital of Norway and is destroying everything in its way. But how do you stop something that you thought was just a story from Norway?

It's the kind of movie that will make people have different opinions, but it's fast-paced and interesting, and it's another great thing that the streamer has done to make more movies that aren't in English available to a wider audience.

Sr.

Sr., an intimate look at the life and career of renegade filmmaker Robert Downey Sr., is one of the most moving movies to come out this week.

Many of us are familiar with Robert Downey Jr.'s work, but this is about how he and his father got along, which wasn't always easy. The result is a movie that is both shocking and endearing in many ways. It also goes into topics like art, death, and fixing generational problems.

The fact that Downey Sr. died while making this documentary makes it even more emotional, but it's still a loving tribute and a look at how complicated father-son relationships and family ties can be.

Lady Chatterley's Lover

Critics are raving about this brand-new adaptation of DH Lawrence's steamy novel about an upper-class woman's forbidden love affair with her working-class gamekeeper. This time, the main characters are played by Emma Corrin, the breakout star of The Crown, and Jack O'Connell, the breakout star of The North Water. Their electric chemistry in the movie has been talked about a lot.

But of course, this story is about a lot more than just romance, even though that's a big part of it. Director Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre does a great job of looking at its themes of feminism and the difference between classes. A major award contender and a must-see.

Another Round

As awards season is coming up again, Netflix is giving you the chance to watch Another Round, a popular movie you might have missed the first time around. Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) does a great job as a teacher running a social experiment that makes you raise your eyebrows. He and a small group of his friends wanted to see what would happen to their lives if they stayed drunk for a long time but didn't get too drunk.

As this crazy situation plays out, the story goes in unexpected directions. The tragicomic plot, great cast, and great direction helped this movie win the Oscar for Best International Feature.

Falling for Christmas

Falling for Christmas is the perfect movie to watch this weekend if you: a) Don't think it's too early for Christmas movies and b) Can't wait for Lindsay Lohan's long-awaited return to the big screen. In this Hallmark-style jingle bell romp, the former teen idol plays Sierra Belmont, a spoiled hotel heiress who loses her memory when she has an accident skiing while being proposed to by her annoying influencer boyfriend (George Young).

Jake (Chord Overstreet), a rough-looking stranger, saves her and gives her a place to stay at his bed and breakfast, where she starts to learn what it's like to live a normal life. Even though it's cheesy and can be annoying at times, Falling for Christmas is a snowy romantic comedy that will definitely get you in the holiday spirit.

Enola Holmes 2

In this sequel, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is back as Sherlock's sister, Mary, who is also a detective. This time, the case is about a girl named Sarah Chapman who has gone missing. Set against the real-life matchgirls' strike of 1888, the movie features some of the original characters as well as some new ones. One of the new characters is a twist on an iconic Sherlock villain.

The second movie in the series is a little bit sharper than the first, and it breaks the fourth wall a lot more. It's another charming adventure that passes the time quickly, with some funny jokes and well-directed carriage chases. It also sets the stage for a possible third movie in the series, and since Nancy Springer has written eight books in the series, there's no danger of running out of material any time soon.

The Wonder

This movie is based on Emma Donoghue's 2016 book The Wonder. It stars Lawrence Pugh. In 1862, Nightingale Nurse Lib Wright, played by Pugh, is sent from England to the Irish Midlands to do an exam. The religious people who live there think that an 11-year-old girl hasn't eaten in four months, but they want Lib to find out if it's a trick or a miracle.

Director Sebastián Lelio keeps the audience on the edge of their seats because the movie deals with heavy topics like how faith and scientific reason are at odds with each other. It's a slow-burning thriller that's kept going by a great performance from Pugh, mesmerising images, and a haunting soundtrack.
