Also check whether the rating is for the specific panel configuration you're buying. A 3-panel bifold and a 6-panel bifold from the same manufacturer can have different whole-unit ratings because the number of panel joints changes.

Even the most efficient bifold door will have some energy impact compared to a solid wall. A 16-foot opening of glass is going to transfer more heat than a 16-foot insulated wall — that's physics.
