How to protect your device from dangerous virus infection

Today everyone uses the internet. The Internet allows you to connect from the globe. Every person has different work standards, different needs but most of the jobs can only perform under the internet. Most of the businesses are dependent on the internet. But the internet is not a place to play. The Internet can be dangerous for you because it is the home to various dangerous computer viruses. A virus can harm your whole device. But not using the internet is impossible. The only option is to adopt security measures which can help to prevent the virus infection.

Install antivirus

Installing a powerful antivirus is the major tool against virus infection. Use an antivirus which has a good AV-Test score. You can Activate Norton with Product key as it has a good AV-Test malware detection and removal score. Antivirus should provide you real-time protection. In real-time protection; the antivirus detects the threat immediately before it harms the device. The zero-time protection feature helps to secure the device from new threats. If any new threat attacks your computer which is not listed in the malware algorithm; antivirus will send it to the quarantine folder to ensure that your device is safe and sound.

Update all software

You must update all the software available on your computer. Your OS must be updated. If your OS is outdated then a virus can easily enter your device. New update is a security patch on your OS. Whenever a virus appears which can harm your OS; the company launches a new update which can prevent the virus infection. So, if you want to keep your computer secure from all the threats then install the latest updates. Updates also provide you new features. Along with OS; update your software from time to time. If you are using Windows device then follow the given steps for updating your software:

  1. Open PC and click on Start button

  2. Go to Programs

  3. Click on Programs and Features option

A list of all the installed programs will appear on the screen. Click the program one by one and tap the update button. If any new update is available on any program; install it immediately. Many antiviruses also provide auto-update features. If your antivirus is providing you the auto-update feature then you don’t have to worry about updates; it will update all your software regularly.

Install reliable software only

People often download various programs on their devices. Some they use some don’t. But every software is not secure. There are various programs which can steal your data and perform various dangerous activities on your device. You should never install third-party software. Most of the third-party software programs are malicious. While you download and program; always visit their official site. There are various online games and editing software programs which are malicious. If you install a program and your device starts running slowly then you must uninstall the program before it creates more trouble. You can use the given steps to uninstall the program:

  1. Open your PC

  2. Go to Start menu

  3. Click on Programs

  4. Navigate to Programs and Features

  5. Check the list of installed program

Click on the program you want to uninstall. Choose the uninstall option and follow the on-screen wizards to uninstall the program. Now restart your PC and check whether your device is working fine or not. If not, provide a full system scan and remove all the existing malware.

Using the security measures will minimize the virus infection but there's no permanent solution which ensures that you never get a virus infection. So, you better keep a data backup. You can store your data on the cloud. If your device gets into virus infection and your files get corrupted then you can easily get your data from the cloud. Another benefit of keeping a cloud backup is that you can access your files on any device. The only danger here is the ransomware. Ransomware encrypted the cloud data and asked ransom to decrypt it. So, the best option here is to keep your crucial files in an external hard disk drive. If your cloud data gets encrypted by the ransomware; you don’t have to pay ransom money to get your data. You should not store the personal information like your bank details or account details on the cloud. If these information such as account details or passwords get compromised then you may have to face huge trouble.
