In the first of its kind of book, Jonathan tries to look at depression, which is on its way to become a full-blown epidemic in the first world countries, and plagues a large proportion of people from all walks of life across the world from its evolutionary perspective. Himself an associate professor of psychology at the University of South Florida, he has also been a sufferer from depression for a significant part of his life. In this work he combines his experience from both sides of the evaluator’s bench to shed some light on how and high depression arises and sometimes persists. He claims that the evolutionary perspective of ‘affective science’ is better poised than how depression has been treated clinically so far.
