The box office and cinema theatres will be affected by the curfew. However, next week, the upcoming Cannes Film Festival has to rescheduled its timetable and screening slot.
In an interview with Deadline, a festival rep shares that the organization has rescheduled the screening and will be pushed to 6 PM. The screening time was initially slated for 7 PM from 27 to 29 October. And some films will also be screened during day time.
Cannes Film Festival was initially planned to take place from 12 to 23 May this year. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the management canceled the festival and announced that they would be looking for other means to explore it. On 3 June, the organization selected the final films for screening. The Prime Minister of France, Jean Castex, declared this evening that the curfew is extended for at least six weeks. The sudden curfew will affect the box office collections and the upcoming release. However, the government announced to provide a relief fund of 30 million euros to help the film industry.
