British video game developer Codemasters stated that its racing video game Dirt 5’s release date had been pushed by a week. The upcoming video game was scheduled for a worldwide release on October 9. Now, it will be released on October 16, 2020. Dirt 5 will launch on October 16 for platforms such as Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Playstation 4. The game will be available for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 in Q4 of 2020. The Stadia version of the game will be released in 2021.

Dirt 5 Comes with a Unique Feature

The gameplay of Dirt 5 comes with unique gameplay. The off-road-focused racing game comes with a four-player split-screen system. The game includes races such as rallycross and ice racing. Rallycross is a form of the sprint-style racing circuit, with a specific modified production or specially built road cars. Ice racing takes place on frozen terrains with vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, or snowmobiles.

Gamers have the option of competing in different events across global locations such as New York, China, Italy, Morocco, Arizona, Brazil, and Norway. Dirt 5 has a dynamic weather system and season, which affect the racing events. For example- if a gamer can only take part in ice racing in New York City during winter months.

Dirt 5 Comes with a Narrative-Focused Career Mode

This off-road racing game comes with a narrative-focused career mode that allows the player’s character against an in-game racer Bruno Durand voiced by American actor Nolan North. Every player has a mentor in the game called Alex “AJ” Janicek voiced by American voice actor and musician Troy Baker. His role is giving guidance throughout their career in the game.

The publishers announced the delay of Dirt 5 on the game’s official Twitter account. In the tweet, it was mentioned that Amplified Edition players would get early access on October 13.  A picture attached to the tweet was quite funky. The font of the text, the car, and the backdrop of the photograph was a quirky take to attract gamers. However, Codemasters has given no specific reason for the delay.

Dirt 5 is not the only game to be delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Another game to suffer the same fate is The Last of Us Part ll. The Last of Us Part ll released in the year 2020 and has been developed by Naughty Dogs. This game is set 5 years after the first game. In Last of Us 2, players can control two different game characters, Ellie; a girl set out for revenge and Abby Anderson. Abby is a soldier who gets involved in a problem brewing between her militia and a cult. Themes of retribution and revenge of the 2020 game was inspired by Neil Druckmann’s experiences of growing up in Israel. The second installment of The Last of Us was released on Sony PlayStation 4.

Delay Not a Big Disappointment for the Gaming World

Dirt 5 is an off-road racing game developed and published by Codemasters. It is the 14th installment in the Colin McRae Rally series and also the eighth game to have the Dirt title.

The COVID-19 virus has brought the world to a complete standstill. Game studios cannot work on full cylinders because of the public health crisis to ensure the safety of their employees. However, Dirt 5 has been delayed by only a week, so it is not that big a disappointment for fans in the gaming world.
