Valentine's Day is nearly here again. Are you dreading it? You shouldn't be! While some people put a lot of pressure on themselves to make the day perfect, it doesn't have to be that way. There's many things you can do to not only survive the day, but actually enjoy it! Consider the following:

#1 Treat yourself. This year has been hard on many people, and many relationships. Perhaps your relationship didn't survive the stress and lockdowns of the pandemic and you'll be spending Valentine's Day alone this year, for the first time in a long time. Don't fret! Decide to make it a day to treat yourself well. Throw your diet out the window and eat your favorite foods. Engage in hobbies that you enjoy, like jogging, shopping, or binge watching a show only you would like. Take the day to sleep in late. Instead of being sad, make it a day dedicated to self-care!

#2 Plan a date night that's totally unique. Let's say you do have a date, but you simply don't know what to do. Don't blow your budget on a fancy night out when something fun and simple like night golf in Charlotte, NC is enough to wow him or her. Remember, they just want to spend time with you! Indoor mini golf in Charlotte, NC is a fantastic way to enjoy the evening and get to know eachother better, without spending next month's rent on a steak dinner.

#3 Start a new Valentine's Day tradition. Valentine's Day doesn't have to be about stuffing yourself into uncomfortable clothes and going through the motions of what someone else decided was a good way to spend the night. Start a whole new tradition! This could be attending a concert or going to a sporting event. It doesn't have to be attending anything at all; it could be making a homemade heart shaped pizza. Choose something memorable, so each year you will have something to celebrate on that date that's unique to you.

#4 Celebrate your dog. You know who loves you more than anyone else in the world? Your furry friend! While your dog may not be able to take you to night golf in Charlotte, NC or buy you a diamond bracelet, he or she is perfectly capable of cuddling on the couch for a movie marathon. Plus, you are pretty much guaranteed to get a kiss or two. Once you spend the day celebrating with your dog, you'll wonder why you ever wanted to celebrate Valentine's Day any other way!

Who says Valentine's Day has to be flowers, dinner, and forced romance? Not you! Instead, make the day fun! Whether you're single, dating, or married, everyone will enjoy the day much more if it's more enjoyable and less stressful. At worst, it is just any other day on the calendar. At best, it is the perfect excuse to celebrate and have a fun time doing something you actually enjoy.
