1. Open QuickBooks Messenger, and go to the drop-down menu under your username.
2. Choose the status from the given options, I.e., busy, away, or otherwise.
Steps to Log-off other users from the company file in QuickBooks using the messenger feature
Close company file for another user:
Note: Only the admin can log off a user from a QuickBooks company file.
1. Open the QuickBooks Desktop Messenger by clicking on the company menu, then go to the chat with a coworker option.

3. Choose the users you want to log off from the company file.
