The most impressive laptop designs that you’ll probably see this year has to be MSI’s GE76 Raider Dragon Edition Tiamet whose launch was recently announced by the company. The laptop’s design was inspired by ancient goddess Tiamet who used to be known as the mother of all gods in Mesopotamia. MSI has named it after her because according to them the laptop represents supreme power just like Tiamet.
However, this is not something out of the ordinary for MSI which released Dragonshield Edition of its GE66 Raider which was designed to look like a spaceship. MSI has unveiled a few other devices in addition to the Dragon Edition like the GE Raider series which includes GE76 Raider (no fun lid design) and 15.6-inch GE66 Raider. The GE Raiders now come with Nvidia’s new GeForce RTX 3000 graphics card. The Dragon Edition and GE66 include RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 respectively. It will give these devices access to Nvidia’s modern technologies which include Dynamic Boost 2.0 and resizable BAR technology.
The all-new Raiders will have Intel’s 10th Gen Core i7 or i9 processors. MSI has claimed that the new lineup can run all triple-A games. They are also one of the first laptops that support Wi-Fi 6E or 6Hz Wi-Fi which will offer better bandwidth with less interference. Although the GE Raider series has some quite powerful laptops that can run most games but probably the most noticeable feature about them is the colorful LED bar around the front edge. With the RGB keyboard, the GE Raider laptops look stylish. They come with plenty of port options like three USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, an audio jack, an Ethernet port, Mini DisplayPort 1.4, and an SD card reader.
The Raider laptops come with a 1080p 300HZ or 240Hz IPS display. Dragon Edition comes with a 4K UHD option while the GE76 1080p 144Hz option. All of them have a 99.9Wh battery. The long battery life is another big change this year. As far as the pricing of the GE76 Raider Dragon Edition is concerned, it is yet to be announced by MSI. However, according to some reports, the laptops will hit shelves in mid to late February. One can preorder the regular GE66 and GE76 models now. They will cost around $2,199 and $1,499 respectively.
The new laptops by MSI are quite powerful and can be used for multiple purposes including gaming. The design is even better than last year and it appears the MSI will likely continue its innovative approach to design in coming years as well.
