It has been a year of binge-watching the shows and movies, mainly to keep away the boredom because of the pandemic lockdown. If you’re a fan of the show ‘Big Little Lies,’ here’s a piece of big news for you. While the idea of a third season is still unsure, the makers have announced a new project named ‘Anatomy of a Scandal’ inspired by the novel of the same name. The new Netflix series was announced back in May 2020, and the filming will start around November.

Though there is no word regarding what the series is going to offer, assumptions are that it’ll follow the same plot as the best seller novel of 2017 by Sarah Vaughan. The story revolves around Westminster Politician James, who is accused of rape and is stuck between getting justice of being innocent or proven guilty. His wife Sophie, whom he met at Oxford, is convinced about the innocence of her husband and tries her best to free him of these fake charges.

Nope, it isn’t as easy as it sounds! The prosecutor of the case is convinced that James is guilty and must pay for his crimes. The novel further unfolds the events where both the women try to keep their side of the story and fight about being right or wrong.

Talking about the cast of the new series, Sienna Miller is likely to appear as Sophie, who’s trying to free her husband of the charges and clear his name. On the other hand; Michelle Dockery; best known for her character Lady Mary on Downton Abbey, will be playing the role of Kate, the prosecutor. Finally, Rupert Friend will be starring as James, the politician.

Apart from this, the word is that the former showrunner of ‘House of Cards,’ Melissa James Gibson will join the team of the new series. Also, S.J. Clarkson, who has worked on the two great shows ‘Succession’ and ‘Orange Is the New Black’ will be directing. Other executive producers include Liza Chasin, Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, and Allie Goss.

Vaughan’s novel has a total of six parts; therefore, the idea about the upcoming seasons will be based on different scandals in an anthology format consisting of parts of ‘A Very English Scandal.’ The first season is likely to have a total of six episodes, dedicating one-hour to each.

As everyone’s familiar that the series will be released exclusively on Netflix, there is no news about the release date of the same. As the shooting of the series is yet to begin anytime soon in London, we can assume that it’ll take a while even before a teaser or a trailer comes out. In the meantime, if you’re a reader, you can buy the novel from Amazon for $12.99 during the seasonal sale. The ones who have already read the novel, it’s a great thing to finally be able to see what you imagined while reading. Surely, none of us can wait for the new thrilling show to air soon.
