The latest Aneesh Chaganty’s thriller movie Run has broken all the records and becomes the most-watched movie during the opening weekend.

Run is an American thriller horror movie directed and written by Chaganty. The movie stars Kiera Allen and Sarah Paulson. The film was digitally released on 20 November 2020 by Hulu. The movie’s plot revolves around Diane (played by Sarah Paulson) delivers a premature baby girl who receives emergency treatment. Seventeen years later, Diane’s daughter, Chloe, is chronically ill with hemochromatosis, paralysis, diabetes, and arrhythmia. Chloe is skilled in technology and is waiting for the acceptance letter from the University of Washington. As the story unfolds, Chloe finds out that her mother is hiding something from her.

Lionsgate initially planned to release the movie in theatres, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the studio changed the plan and decided to release the film digitally. And the film became one of the movies that featured on the streaming platforms and received a great response. Last week Chaganty’s latest film streamed, and audiences loved Allen and Paulson acting performances. This year has been an excellent opportunity for streaming platforms to release their movies, and some great movies have emerged from places like Disney+, Netflix, and Hulu. Hulu’s Palm Springs received a great deal of success.

According to Deadline, Run has made the biggest opening weekends on the streaming platform Hulu. Run has become the most talked about the film that has created much buzz around it over the weekend. The movie is the latest breakthrough streaming hit this year after the fantastic success of Amazon’s Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and Disney+’s Hamilton.

It is the most talked-about movie on Twitter. Run scored an approval rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 82 reviews with an average rating of 7.3/10. And on Metacritic, it scored 66 out of 100 based on 18 critics.

Run received many positive reviews; however, one could argue that the film would have done better if released theatrically. With the two great releases like Run and Palm Springs, Hulu is now slowly cementing its base. Before this year, the streaming platform relied on TV shows like Ramy and The Handmaid’s Tale. Now the audience can expect some good content from the platform. This week Hulu is planning to stream the romcom Happiest Season which might prove as another breakout for Hulu.

The year might be a challenging year for the film industry, but it has proven a blessing in despair for Hulu.
