There is no shortage of reports, speculations, and rumors that have been surfacing around Apple’s plans for the glasses based on augmented reality. The analysts related to the field have been claiming for the last two years that the company may release the AR headset in the next year. Now, the new and reliable report has revealed that AR Headset may come until the year 2022. The latest information has also given insight into what Apple is doing right now in the projects.

Earlier this year, everyone believed that Apple had stopped working on the projects entirely. But, some reports have revealed that Apple is working on the projects internally. The latest news has revealed that Apple is working on the device in partnership with Valve to produce it as soon as possible. The analysts have also reaffirmed that it could launch the tool the next summer. However,  it seems that Apple will delay the launch of the AR Glasses and headset. The news has been confirmed by some of the reliable sources and the latest report published by The Information.  These reliable sources have attended the internal presentation given by the executives of Apple.

Apple has entered its AR glasses into trail production. Trail production is the process that involves testing and prototyping new materials to make them eligible for producing on a large scale. While the news sounds very exciting, trial production is just one step in the long road of introducing an entirely new product design. Also, the lenses are the most complex product component that will take quite some more time. In fact, according to the supply chain sources, the step could put the lenses at least one or two years away when it comes to mass production.

OLED Technology: Sony’s Cutting Edge Technology

This week tech enthusiasts have gained a bit more insight into the lenses design and components that Apple may use. All it became possible was the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun’s reports, which have been spotted by MacRumors and shared by  Mac Otakara. According to the information that the industry analyst Ross Young has also corroborated, Apple will get the technology of micro display from Sony for its lenses. The company will supply the OLED displays with more than 3,000 ppi pixel density.

Young has also said that these micro displays based on OLED technology will have excellent performance of motion and very high resolution. However, he emphasized that these micro displays have been designed only for augmented reality and not the applications based on virtual reality. The company has used projection optics inside the AR glasses. According to Young, the displays of the micro displays diagonally would be off 0.5 inches with a resolution of 1,280×960. The resolution appears consistent with ECX337A of Sony with 1,000 nits of brightness, which is the maximum. Also, it has a 100,000:1 contrast ratio and 0.01 ms or less response rate.

According to MacRumors, Sony’s OLED microdisplays come with a wide gamut of colors, incredibly high contrast ratios, low reflectance, and a high rate of luminance. Also, the response rate of the displays is ultra-fast. In simple terms, you can’t expect everything from a display based on OLED, but the display technology is best suited to OLED technology’s needs.

Apple Glass: When Will the Company Release it?

According to some of the most reliable reports, Apple might release the AR headset by 2022. However, Apple is refraining from saying anything about the exact release date.
