Brad Pitt shared his experience with past collaborator David Fincher and said that the experiences are amazing. Fincher and Pitt have worked together on three projects, including, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Fight Club, and Se7en.

David Fincher is an American filmmaker known for his psychological thrillers and has received thirty nominations at the Academy Awards, two of them for Best Director. Fincher started his career in filmmaking at an early age. He won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Direction for directing the music videos, including “Vogue” and Madonna’s “Express Yourself.”

Fincher is best known for his projects like The Game, Fight Club, Seven, the biographical drama The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Zodiac. The director has won the BAFTA Award for Best Direction and the Golden Globe Award for Best Director for The Social Network. His biggest commercial successes are Gone Girl and Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The latter got eleven nominations at the British Academy Film Awards and thirteen nominations at the Academy Awards. Fincher won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the show House of Cards.

The award-winning director is known for his reputation for detail and precision. Some of the past collaborators shared that Fincher prefers to take many takes to shoot a scene. His work sometimes feels tedious, but Fincher believes it is essential for camera operators and actors to hit the same mark for the continuity of the post-production scene. The filmmaker’s mind has become so tuned that he can even pick out the minute details in every scene he uses while watching a movie and his directorial work.

Recently, during an interview with the New York Times, Pitt confirmed that the filmmaker has an “impossible eye” for even the smallest details and technicalities of a movie. The director and actor duo spend lots of movie nights together, and Pitt enjoys Fincher’s commentary. Pitt said that Fincher would be muttering the whole time.

Pitt shared the times when he worked with the director on a film, and they would be shooting some shots, there would be the slightest wiggle from the camera. And Fincher got all tense up, so much so that he even physically hurt himself. The Oscar winner is very passionate about his work, and he uses his directorial mind while watching films with his friends. Fincher even revealed this himself that while playing his favorite video game, Madden NFL, that is the only time he does not think about movies. He is very particular about his techniques of film.

Director Steven Soderbergh even shared one incident where he recalled his visit during post-production. The perfectionist brought a laser pointer, circling one section of the wall in the upper part, and said that that quarter of stop is too bright. The level of intense film-watching experience filled Soderbergh with amazement.

Soderbergh shared that he had to go out and took some deep breaths. He knew that, to see like that, all the time? Everywhere? He won’t be able to do that.

The director’s impossible eye has proven that his directorial mindset will remain whatever the screen has and wherever the screen is.

Fincher’s eyes voluntarily or involuntarily allow him to analyze the scenes and movies’ techniques and details. And actor Brad Pitt finds it very amusing watching films with the “impossible eye.” Fincher’s latest movie Mank is all set to release on 4 December on Netflix. Fans can look into the director’s vision and glimpse through his film.
