Since the time I started taking my dog Hachi on his evening walks, I have been craving to write about our time together. Everyday seems new, with newer experiences. I want to capture it all for my life. I am not exaggerating when I say that I have found myself during these 15 minutes of walk everyday.
My UPSC preparations and the time crunch that tags along – don't let me write regularly, or even start my Hachi series. Because that would demand me to be regular about it. But today, I thought of shedding all inhibitions and start our journey 🙂

So here it goes..

Hachi is a blessing to me. I have become a mother. Though I don't actually make his food, or clear his shit. My mother does so, and she complaints a lot for we don't help her at all. We are bad kids, me and my brother. This makes my mom the real mother and real love of Hachi (for he is a total foody). But the feeling that I have for Hachi is not just that of a sister. I love her like a parent. I want to be with him all the time, play with him, share stories with him, ofcourse my bad times as well. I do cry in front of him at times. And when he gives me his hand to console me, I just cannot remain sad anymore. I love watching him – sleeping, eating, and sometimes doing nothing but licking his own foot or hand. He does nothing special, a very lazy and untrained dog he is. But still his mere presence is what I sought for. He makes my room dirty by shedding his hair all over,  and my room does smell bad when he comes inside wet, but I don't care. As long as he loves being with me, I don't care.

So, in the chronicles of Hachi, I want to record my beautiful incidents with Hachi. About his friends, his love-hate relation with my mom, his know-no-bounds love for my brother and so on. I hope I will love this time as much as I love walking him 🙂

Oh, by the way, just to mention why he is named Hachi. Yes, the movie hachiko is the inspiration. That movie converted me from a dog-fearing/dog-hating person to an eternal dog lover.

And for Hachi, who can never read this. Love you Hachu. Lets make this stronger everyday 🙂
