When the nightclubs (commonly known as table dance) closed, many chilangos cried. Where to where it will go fast and tired, the swallow that goes from here? They were accused of promoting sexual exploitation and trafficking, and there was an intense debate for including them in the city's Law of Mercantile Establishments.

The people who worked there (such as waiters, garroteros, erotic dancers and bartenders) have sought legal recognition of their employment, since many of them collaborated there of their own free will without being exploited or extorted.

But what was going on inside? What was a nightclub like two years ago? Soon the private ones finished? Why do I jump so much if the ground is even? We interviewed Silvia, who for three years worked as an erotic dancer in different establishments:

How did you get to work there?

I started working at a nightclub when I was 18 years old, when I left home and went to live with a friend. We rented a space to live and we realized the economic difficulties. It occurred to me, purely by game, to say to my friend: “hey, why don't we get into dancers?” Although she took it as a joke, days later we asked ourselves again if we should consider that option. I started looking for addresses of places on the internet and we launched into one located in Marina Nacional.

What did they ask you to get in there?

We asked to be interviewed. Imagine, we were both 18 years old, we were very young and they asked us if we really knew what that was. And no, we really had no idea, just as we saw it on television and in movies, wave ‘Striptease’. They took us to the place because they saw us very indecisive and very confused. We were surprised to see how the whole movement was.

What surprised you?

That the striptease that was done was very explicit. Some girls took off ALL their clothes and even there they masturbated in front of the public. They interacted with customers at the tables and, yes, we were surprised.

What does it mean to interact?

That they danced to the clients, that they took with them and that they kissed them.

Could anyone go to work there without problems?

There are those who entered with a representative, placed them in different places, but almost always the girls came to the place to ask for work. The security people are the ones who looked at you to see if you could cover the profile and if they saw that you were very ugly or very chubby, they told you that the manager was not there. If they approved of you, you passed the manager and you had to dance so they could see your body.

Do they charge you to enter?

No, but there are places where they charge you for being there. I spent two weeks in one that charged me 300 pesos a day, and whether I worked or not, I had to pay them. If someday I didn't get a weight, they would write them down in an account.

How do personifications do? Does everyone choose their role?

Each one has its own personality or style. You can put a name on yourself, but finally one must be authentic there. Of course, they help us with the costumes for the dances and each one chooses their songs.

What is the age limit? Can a 50 year old lady keep dancing?

Depends on the place. Where I worked there was a 40-year-old woman who only signed.

Now, what happened in the private ones?

It varies depending on the club and the girls, since there were those who for one, two or three tickets, did what the clients wanted, but there were also those who asked for more. It worked like this: customers ordered their tickets with the box office. If they only bought one, it included a three-minute striptease on the table. There were places that made you packages, for example, from five packages, you could interact with the girl with the curtain half open. From 15 tickets, you could already have sex with the client, if you so decided. If you did not want, you clarified it from the beginning. They could also put two girls in private, if they both agreed to this.

Were they given condoms to take care of themselves?

Right there on site they are sold to customers. All girls usually demand a condom.

How much was a ticket?

Between 200 and 250 pesos.

Did it already include the drink?

No, it's only a three-minute dance or a song. Drinks are separate, they pay for one to be with them accompanying them. If they wanted to touch you more or if they wanted a dance, they should buy the tickets.

What if the customer is very down?

Once I had a very old man, very old, who even used crutches. I got to have a drink with him, but the moment he asked me to dance with him and have sex with him, I said: no, not at all!

Did the place force you to stay with a client even if you didn't want to?

No, if we did not want to be with a client, we only had to notify the manager and there was no problem. In fact, we could tell clients that we weren't beating that we weren't private. Everything was optional during the five or eight hours we were there.

What if you get a bottle of champagne? One earns more commission. How much do you get by the glass?Well when one goes in there they tell us that the glass is sold at such a price and that we have so much to do. For example, a drink could come out to customers at 200 pesos and we would have 70 or 80 pesos and the rest is divided among all.
