On 22nd September 2020, Nokia held an event called Nokia Mobile Event (#OnlyGadgetYouNeed), where they spilled some beans about their upcoming mobile phones. The event was mainly held to announce the launch of the latest Nokia 2.4 and 3.4 smartphones that come at a very affordable price point. Over the years, Nokia phones have seen a roller coaster ride in terms of sales and the brand’s market value. For now, some fantastic smartphones are available for purchase. Let’s look at the specs of the limelight devices at the event.

The Nokia 2.4 seems like a better version for Nokia 2 that was released in 2017. The Nokia 2.4 carries the signature 2-days battery life. This device has improved in terms of design, camera, and other overall features. The 6.5-inch HD display of the device has a 20:9 1600x720p screen. It is available in two variants; so you can choose from either 2GB RAM + 32GB storage or 3GB + 64GB storage. Both the variants have a microSD card slot. It uses Android 10 and MediaTek Helio P22 processor, which is not the latest processor but works fine with the other specs of the device. It has a 13MP + 2MP depth sensor with an LED flash read as its rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.

One of the unique things about the Nokia 2.4 is that the front camera has a night mode and portrait mode. It is surprising to get these features at the price of $120 (approx.; worldwide). You can choose from three color variants: Dusk, Charcoal, and Fjord. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support USB-C charging, so you have to stick to micro USB cables.

The Nokia 3.4 has a relatively smaller screen but better specs. It has a 6.39-inch HD display with a punch-hole. You can choose from three storage variants, i.e., 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 3GB + 64GB storage, and 4GB + 64GB storage. All the variants have a microSD card slot. It uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 processor and has a 4000mAh battery with 10W charging via USB TypeC port. This device has a triple camera (13MP f/2.2 rear camera + 2MP depth sensor + 5MP ultrawide camera with LED flash) on its back and an 8MP camera in front.

The cameras support night and advanced portrait mode. It also has the same color variants as the Nokia 2.4, but its texture and finish are different. The Nokia 3.4’s price starts at $149 worldwide. Both Nokia 2.4 and 3.4 come with a nano-tech material on their back, giving it a good texture and better grip. Both of these smartphones have a fingerprint sensor as well.

And as we mentioned earlier, the recent event also announced the launch of Nokia Power Earbuds Lite, which we assume is a lite version of its predecessors, Nokia Power Earbuds. The Lite earbuds claim to offer 3 hours of music playback. It comes with IPX7 waterproofing that can handle up to 30 minutes in 1m of water, so feel free to go dancing in the rain. You can carry it anywhere with the pocket-sized charging case. With universal Bluetooth compatibility and easy-touch controls, you can quickly connect and listen to anything on-the-go.

Despite all these specs and device descriptions, the Nokia Mobile Event seemed futile. Most tech-savvy argued that all of this could’ve been covered in a blog or on their website. The event might have been a marketing move, but the customers need more. The stakes are high in the rival brands and companies, and although Nokia has introduced better phones this time, the company still has a long route to cover.

Apart from these devices, Nokia has also added the global launch of Nokia 8.3 smartphone in line that will probably level up the brand’s game. The company announced the arrival of this device in March this year. In the recent event, Nokia promised that there is more to come, which has again raised the expectations of impartial customers and smartphone enthusiasts. The company will soon release the Nokia 6.3, 7.3, and 9.3 handsets, and these are expected to be more powerful.
