Christianity and Hinduism are among the oldest religions.  Both of them can be dated back thousands of years ago, even before Islam.  The Christian priest address that Christianity was started in some areas of the Roman empire and Middle East. Today, religion is spread in almost all the world's continents and is one of the largest practised religions. At the same time, Hinduism came into existence more than 3500 years, although it came into practice in 1500 BCE in the Indus valley. The highest population of Hinduism is found in India, where the majority of people are Hindus. Hinduism has almost 800 million followers, said Father George Rutler.

Both Christianity and Hinduism are the oldest religions, but if traced back properly, we find out that Christianity is a bit younger than Hinduism. It came into existence almost 2000 years ago.  Christianity came into the limelight after the death of Jesus Christ, who claimed to be the son of God.

Similar Concept Of Heaven :

Indeed, both religions are the oldest, but they are similar in the basic concept of Heaven and Hell. The followers of both religions believe in Heaven, but Hindus' concepts about Heaven are a bit different.

What do Hindus think about Heaven?

Father George Rutler said that the Hindus – the worshippers of the Vishnu, believe that after death, they will go to Heaven where there will be no suffering, pain, or fear and where they will be able to live in Vishnu's glory.

What Christians about Heaven?

The Christians also believe the same about Heaven.  They think that Heaven is a place where after death,  they will live forever. They also believe that God's three figures, including the Son, Father, and Holy Spirit, will also live there with Their followers.

The followers of both religions believe that Heaven is a place of peace and tranquillity, a place where there will be no hatred, suffering, nor pain.

Some major differences:Number of Gods:

This is one of the most important beliefs that makes both religions different from each other. Christianity asks its followers that there is only one God, and only He deserves to be worshipped. At the same time, the followers of Hinduism worship more than one God. They worship three primary Gods who they suppose operate as one in Brahman. They believe that all the three Gods deserve to be worship, and they guide their lives, said Father George Rutler.

Purification of the soul:

The Hindus believe that the souls of the living creatures should be cleansed spiritually so that the bad deeds are washed away, and they can enter Heaven. The Christians almost have the same concept about the purification of the human soul. However, in Christianity,  the followers believe that the human soul enters Heaven after going through subjective perfection and not pure perfection as in Hinduism. According to the Christian Priest and the followers of the religion, it was only Jesus Christ, the son of God, who went through perfection before going to Heaven.

Rebirth of Soul:

The Hindus believe that the soul dies when a man dies, and it is not reborn. At the same time, Christians believe that the soul of a human body goes through many deaths and rebirths during the same lifetime.

Recognition of other religions:

The scholars and followers of Hinduism accept all the religions globally and consider them valid but unique due to their basic beliefs. At the same time, Christianity accepts Jesus Christ as the only way to reach God. It does not recognize other religions and terms them as invalid; besides, they also believe that a human cannot get God or see Him unless he believes in His son (Jesus Christ). For them, Christ is seen as the only way of connection between man and God and the pope.

Final Thoughts:

Both Christianity and Hinduism are the oldest religions in the world. They have billions of followers across the globe. The concept of Heaven and life after death is similar for both faiths, but they are unique in other basic concepts. From the number of Gods to the rebirth of the human soul, the followers of both religions believe differently and practice differently. To know more please click here.
