Discord is one of the most famous VoIP, Chatting, and sharing platforms among gamers as it provides easy-to-use services for gamers to stream their media to share it along with their watchers. Discord is not new but has gained popularity in recent times.

Many errors and bugs are going around with Discord, and one of them is the No route Error, Which is important for every discord user. However, this error can be fixed by yourself.

What is the No Route Error?

There are reasons why this error might be occurring and creating a problem for you. Here is what might have happened.

  1. The IP assigned to you by your Internet Service Provider has been changed, or you might have manually changed the IP address. It might be a reason for your VPN, and you can simply switch on and Off the Router or Modem. In some cases restarting your PC can also fix this.
  2. Your Antivirus or Firewall might be blocking Discord, and You will need to manually allow Discord to run on your Device. Otherwise, the Antivirus will not allow connection with the outgoing server.
  3. In cases where you are on a network in your school or office, and you have a network admin, The network admin might be blocking access to the Discord Servers.
  4. The Voice region of the server is not compatible with your client; you can fix that by simply changing the region of the voice server.
  5. Make sure your network is supporting the Quality of Service High Packet Priority. This can be disabled from the Voice & Video settings.

Fixing the Error

If you are looking forward to resolving this error, here is how you can do it.

  1. Restart your Computer/Modem/Router.
You will need to close all the applications and restart the computer or the router/modem. The No Route error might be caused because of the Dynamic IP range that keeps on changing and causes the disruption of the IPV6 services.

If the issue is temporary and is caused by the change in the Dynamic IP and disruption of IPV6, then you will be able to fix this error with this minor fix. If the error still persists, then follow the next method.

  2. Uninstall any Firewall or whitelist Discord in the antivirus firewall settings.
If you have a 3rd party firewall or any antivirus that comes with a firewall application built-in that might be blocking the Discord, you can simply remove or turn off the Firewall. If your firewall application lets you Allow or whitelist applications, then add Discord to the Whitelist.

Firewalls usually block the outgoing server connections and treat these connections as a threat to your computer, as these servers are not known to the firewall.

You can remove it from Programs and Features in the Control Panel.

  3. VPN, remove it, or Use the UDP connection in VPN (if available).
VPN is one of the major causes for the No Route Error because VPN anonymizes the IP range and keeps on changing the Ip address for different locations. This might be a major cause of this error. You can stop your VPN and test the connection.
However, if you want to keep using the VPN, there is an option to use Discord over UDP (user datagram protocol). If your VPN supports UDP, you can configure it to use it.
  4. Your Network Admin is blocking you.
If your network admin is blocking you, You can go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center. In your connections tab, click on the Connection you are connected to under the private network.

Click on the connected network in the connections on the right pane. Inside the connection properties, Under Networking Tab, you will need to find Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), click and select it and then click Properties.

In the properties tab under the General Tab, change the Obtain DNS Server Automatically to Use the following DNS server addresses and set the value of Preferred DNS server to 8 8 8 8 and the value of Alternate DNS server to 8 8 4 4. Click ok to apply the changes.

Restart your computer and check if the error is gone and the Server connects. However, if the problem still persists, you can check the below method to fix it.

  5. The Voice region of the server needs to be changed.
In this case, you will need to ask the server admin to change the voice region of the server, which is located in the Server Settings > Server region.
  6. Turn Off QoS (Quality of Service).
In some cases turning off the Quality of Service, also knows as QoS, has fixed the problem. You can do that simply.
    1. Open Discord, Click on the Gear icon for settings.
    2. Under the app settings, click on the Voice and Video Option.
    3. Scroll down to Enable Quality of Service High Packet Priority is disabled, and turn it off.
    4. Now Restart Discord. The error must be gone.
