Good news for Game of Thrones fans, the series franchise will soon release the prequel of the show, House of the Dragon.

Recently, the team has confirmed the news in an interview with Collider. The show has cast Paddy Considine as the lead or protagonist of the series. Game of Thrones is a fantasy drama TV series created by D.B. Weiss and David Benioff for HBO. The show was an adaptation of the fantasy novel, A Song of Ice and Fire written by George R.R. Martin.

Paddy George Considine is an English director, actor, musician, and screenplay writer. He is known for his movies like The Observer, and This Is  England, Dead Man’s Shoes, Le Donk & Scor-zay-zee, and many more. Considine has received an Evening Standard British Award, a Thessaloniki Film Festival Award, an Empire Award. He also won a Silver Lion, a BAFTA Award, and a British Independent Film Award.

House of the Dragon is a show that is based on another novel of George R.R. Martin titled Fire & Blood. The show is set around 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and is focused on the Targaryen clan. The prequel revolves around the beginning of the end of the dynasty that dominated the Seven Kingdoms.

Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik are the executive producers and showrunners of the series. Paddy Considine will be playing the King Viserys Targaryen. He is chosen as the lord of Westeros as the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal.

Viserys I Targaryen was the fifth king Targaryen to sit on the Iron Throne from 103 AC to 129 AC. Viserys continued the legacy and the prosperous peace of his grandsire but ultimately seeded for the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. He was the dragon rider who also rode Balerion until the dragon died due to old age during Jaehaerys I, and after the death of Balerion Viserys never bonded with another dragon.

Fans are excited to see Paddy Considine in character. Before this show, Considine starred in an adapted movie of the book Submarine written by Joe Dunthorne. Submarine is written and directed by Richard Ayoade.

House of the Dragon is co-created by Martin with Ryan Condal, and he also wrote the pilot script. Condal is also the co-showrunner along with Miguel Sapochnik from Game of Thrones. Sapochnik will also direct the upcoming show.

Along with Sara Lee Hess and Vince Gerardis; Martin, Condal, and Sapochnik will also be the executive producers. Hess later joined Condal as the writer for the prequel of the Game of Thrones starring Naomi Watts.

Naomi Ellen Watts is known for the movies and series like Bride of Christ, Hey Dad…!, Home and Away, movie Flirting, King Kong, The International, Eastern Promises, and many more. She was nominated for Golden Globe, Academy Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award for the Best Actress.

The first season of the House of the Dragon might consist of ten episodes, and it will also tackle the Dance of Dragons. The sequence covers the Targaryen civil war which ripped apart the Westeros referenced in Game of Thrones.

The characters include King Viserys’ heir, Princess Rhaenyra; as well her brother, Aegon II; Prince Daemon, her uncle; and the stepmother, Queen Alicent Hightower.

Fans can expect the series House of the Dragon to air in 2022. And audiences are excited to watch Paddy Considine in the Game of Thrones franchise. Considine appeared in popular movies including Hot Fuzz, The Bourne Ultimatum, and Cinderella Man. He also directed and wrote the indie drama Tyrannosaur.

House of Dragon is making much speculation around it after the ending of Game of Thrones in 2019. However, the release date is yet far, but it is good to know that the show is under process.
