In a hungry SUV market, it's refreshing that Honda hasn't abandoned normal cars. One year after the introduction of the City Sedan, the five-door counterpart is now making its debut in selected markets as a replacement for the Supermini Jazz / Fit. It largely mirrors the design of the sedan, but takes into account the smaller footprint as the Honda City Hatchback 2021 is 208 millimeters (8.2 inches) shorter.
With a length of 4345 mm, the new little hatch is significantly larger than the Jazz without stepping on the fingers of the Civic Hatchback. Honda focuses on the sedan's wheelbase and, according to Honda, offers more legroom and so-called ultra seats with practical, long, high and cool modes for added comfort.
In Thailand, where the City Hatchback was unveiled today, Honda will sell the car with a 1.0-liter turbo gasoline engine. The three-pot engine has an output of 120 horsepower and 173 newton meters (128 pound-feet) of torque that is transferred to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission. Here is a sporty looking RS fairing in red, but everything shows up with no extra effort.
This premium City Hatchback RS offers more than just visual adjustments. It is also generously equipped with paddles, six airbags, cruise control, rear charging connections and an armrest for passengers in the back seat. Honda is also installing an audio system with eight speakers, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and red lighting for the digital dash display.
Prices in Thailand start at 599,000 baht ($ 19,700) for the base model and increase to 749,000 baht ($ 24,700) for the above RS. The name plate “City” is older than some might think. It's been around for nearly four decades when the first generation hit the market as a small car in 1981. It has grown significantly since then. New limousine that is almost a meter longer.
