Now you can order the Honda Civic Type R engine in the United States. Honda Performance Development (HPD), the racing division of the American Honda Motor Company, announced the release of its limited-edition HPD-developed control components and K20C1 crate engine for racing and off-highway applications.
For many years, the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine has been the main product of the HPD racing product line, providing power for the company’s Type R TC and Type R TCR racing cars and the successful F4 US Championship and FR Americas Championship series. In the past, HPD’s K20C1 engine was exclusively used by Honda racing line members and racing teams.
Now, for the first time, anyone can purchase the HPD Crate Engine software package, “designed for easy, affordable and reliable exchange applications”. Each crate engine will be equipped with a long engine block, alternator, turbocharger and starter motor. The control package will include ECU developed by HPD, engine replacement wiring harness and accelerator pedal.
HPD ECU was developed with ease of use in mind, and will be pre-commissioned to facilitate its easy installation in various vehicles designated for off-highway applications (as opposed to highway use). In the FK8 Civic Type R, the K20C1 has a power of 306 hp and a torque of 400 Nm.
“HPD is proud that Honda provides affordable and versatile power. Our K20C1 engine has won many competitions in the club and professional series and is now available for a variety of applications. The new limited edition crate engine kit is HPD Part of the strategy, the strategy will use our top expertise to benefit Honda fans of all ages and motor sports categories.” HPD Commercial Motorsports manager John Whiteman said.
The complete package will be available at HPD’s newly established official distributor in the United States in May 2021. Customers will also receive technical support for custom installations.(Read more: harga civic hatchback)
