You can reset the canon from its printer settings by default. Find out how to reset the settings to factory CANON.

Pixma MP / MX / MG Series: Category 3 Printer and Ink Counter General Reset 

By pressing the power button to turn off your printer.

  • Holding down the Stop / Reset button while pressing the main power button. Hold down the power button, release the “Stop / Reset” button and then press it twice in a row.
  • Wait approximately 20-30 seconds for the LED to show 0.
  • You have to press the Stop / Reset button four (4) times in a row.
  • Press the power button twice.
  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button one more time. The printer is now reset.

Then reset the cartridge ink counter:

  • Disconnect the power and USB cables from the printer.
  • Open the cartridge door and press and hold the power button.
  • Reconnect the power cords while holding down the power button.
  • The ink cartridge now resets.

Pixma “MP” Printer Series: Category 3 Ink Counter Reset 

Most MP200-400 series

  • Please turn off the Canon MP printer and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
  • Press the “Stop / Reset” button twice while holding the “On / Off” button, then release the “On / Off” button. This puts the printer in factory mode.
  • Press the right arrow button until you see “Send Mode 3” on the LCD. Click “OK” to select it.
  • Press the “Stop / Restart” button when you see a message that says “No cleaning.” This instructs the Canon printer to print a test page.
  • Lift the Canon MP 470 printer's cover and wait for the cartridges to move to the left. Then unplug the printer from the electrical outlet.
  • Lift both ink cartridges and close the cover.
  • Now you can Plug the power cord back in and press the “On / Off” button.
  • Put the ink cartridges back in once you see a message that says, “Replace cartridges.”

  • Turn off the printer.

  • • Press the power button twice.

Canon MP140 to MP830 printer models only

  • • Turn on the printer.
  • • Press and hold the printer's Reset button.
  • • Hold down the Reset button and press and hold the Color Start button.
  • • Wait 5 seconds.

Now just press

  • The Color Start button, then release the Reset Button.
  • Wait until the printer begins to configure. This should take approximately 20 seconds.
  • Should be on the screen, hold down the” Tool “button, and the letter” A “should now be on the screen.
  • While pressing the Tool button, press and hold the Reset Button.
  • Wait until there are no more blinking lights on the printer.
  • You have to Release the Tool button and then release the Reset Button.
  • With the printer turned off but still connected to a power source, press the Power button while holding the Stop / Reset button.

When the Power LED is on, press the Stop / Reset button two (2) times while pressing and holding the Power button.

Upon releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move to a service mode (… wait for a menu selection)

When the LED turns green, press the Stop / Reset button for the specified number of time (s) according to the function indicated in the following table (each time the Stop / Reset button is pressed.
