VMware is a software that allows user to access the more than one monitor. Even it can access more monitors at the same time. Still, as a default, you can access only one monitor at a time. The priority changes and you need to obtain two monitors, and then you have to change the settings of VMware.

Here you can see to change the settings of VMware to access the dual monitor.

Configure the Settings of VMware

  • You have to switch off the virtual machine before you start the procedure.
  • Launch the application of VMware.
  • Go to the Edit tab.
  • Select the option Preferences.
  • Select the options display located on the left panel. Then you get to see two options in the Autofit.
  • Check for both of the boxes before the Autofit Window and Autofit Guest.
  • Tap on the option Autofit Guest which is at Full-screen. Change the resolution of the VM and tap on the OK button, which will save the changes.
  • Now select the Specify Monitors Settings. Now you have to enter the number 2 in the section of Number of Monitors.
  • Now enter the setting of resolution under the option of Maximum Resolution of any One Monitor. Then tap on the OK button, which will save the changes.
  • Now turn on the Virtual machine.
  • Go to View Tab.
  • Select the Cycle, Multiple Monitors.

After selecting this option, you may face an error stating that you are unable to access the monitors.

If you are facing this error, then you have to download the VMware Tools.

Install the VMware Tools

  • Switch on the Virtual Machine if it is not.
  • Go to the VM tab in the menu bar. Then you have to tap Install VMware Tools.
  • If you are doing it for the first time, then tap on the button OK, which will appear on the VMware tool window of information.
  • The wizard of VMware tools will start if you have if the autorun is permitted in the CD-ROM already.
  • If the wizard of installation is not started, then you have to launch the Run.
  • Then enter the command D:setup64.exe  or D:setup.exe (the setup64 command should be used in 64-bit System). Here D represents the virtual drive of CD-ROM.
  • During the process of installation, you have to make a choice between the Typical, Custom, or Complete options. It will be best for you if you select the option Complete. This option will allow you to access the VMware products for virtual machines.

Now you will notice that the virtual machine will work correctly in both of the monitors. If you wish to manage your settings on your monitors, you should follow the following steps:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Find System and double-tap on it.
  • Select the option Display under the System.
  • Now you can make changes in as per your suitability.

Enjoy your dual monitors and multitask to do the work quickly. This way, you can perform an action at a faster rate, but you should have sufficient processing speed too.
