Amongst millions of tweets posted every day, do your brand’s posts get lost in the chaos? That’s what Twitter Advertising is for. It is to promote your brand and reach the maximum number of people who might be interested in what you offer. Twitter ad formats are really simple and there is no minimum advertising budget. So let’s tell you how to use Twitter Ads in 6 easy steps.

1. Set up your Twitter ads account

If you haven’t used Twitter Ads before, you’ll need to set up your account. For this, log in to your Twitter account and go to ads.twitter.com. On the page that will appear, fill your country and time zone and then hit the ‘let’s go’ button. With this, you can have access to your Twitter ad manager which will trace your campaigns and analyze metrics.

2. Choose your advertising objective

Now, decide what you want from your Twitter ads. You need to choose a campaign that will determine your engagement and actions.  These are the options:

Awareness

Reach: You want your Promoted Tweet to reach the maximum number of people. You will be charged per 1,000 impressions

In-stream video views: You want your short video ad to run at the start of videos from Twitter’s premium content partners. You’ll be charged for each video view.

Consideration

Video views: You want a maximum number of people to watch your videos or GIFs. You’re billed for each video view.

App installs: You want everyone to install your app. You will be billed for each app install.

Website clicks or conversions: You want to make people visit your website. You’re billed per click.

Engagements: You want to increase your engagement with the help of your Promoted Tweets. You’re billed per engagement when the user initially starts the engagement.

Followers: You want more people to follow you. You’re billed for each new follower.

Conversion

App re-engagements: You want people who already have your app to start using your app. You will be billed for each app click.

Once you choose your objective, you will be taken to the ‘Campaign set up’ screen. You now have to name your campaign, choose how to pay for it, and set your campaign budget. Now, you can start the campaign right away or plan it for later.

There is no minimum or maximum budget for Twitter ads. It can cost as much as you want and as less as you want. So, once you make your payment selections, tap on ‘Next’.

3. Set up your ad group and bidding

Now you have arrived at the ‘Ad group setup’ page where you would have to select an ad group for your campaign. You would want to stick to only one ad group in the beginning and slowly when you get used to the process you can choose various groups based on the audience. You can then use different creatives, try different budgets and timings. Give your ad group a name and set a start and end time.

Now starts the bidding where you will have to choose how much you want to pay for your ad. Prefer to choose automatic bidding where Twitter will find out the lowest you can pay within your budget. When you are new to Twitter advertising, it’s a good way to start until you get the idea of how bidding works.

4. Target your audience

With the targeting options, you can choose the right audience for your ad and maximize your budget. You can choose various parameters to define your audience. For example, by gender, age, location, language, and technology. You can even add a particular metro area, add postal code to specify the location or you can also target a whole country. Furthermore, the technology component allows you to target by device, carrier, or OS version.

By using the ‘Audience features’ you can target your ad to users based on specific interests and even the specific keywords and TV shows users Tweet about. You can even upload your own list of the audience you want to target or allow Twitter to target people who are similar to your followers. When you are done making all the choices, click ‘Next’.

5. Choose ad placement

Now that all the major parts are done, you need to choose where you want your ad to display by choosing from the options given on the right-hand side. When done, click ‘Next’.

6. Launch your campaign

Go through all the details once again and review all the options. When satisfied, click on the ‘Launch Campaign’ to release your ad.
