Introduction:

In this age of computers, smartphones, tablets and other gadgets like these the need to carry a paperback book is soon fading away. People nowadays don’t want to carry a five hundred page book, instead, they prefer having smart alternatives for it. I mean, just think about it, would you rather be carrying a book that weighs around half a kilo or would you rather be carrying nothing but your smartphone? I, for one, am someone who would prefer doing the latter. It’s simply convenient.

This is where having an e-book is way better than carrying a paperback. And these days, like me, people prefer going for e-books not only because they’re convenient but also because you can download many of them for free. Why pay for something when you can get it for free, right? But not everything’s for free. There are tons of e-books that you have to pay for, to read as well. So as a reader you can go for either option.

Now, because the demand for e-books has gone way up in the last couple of years, people are also trying to earn money by publishing there work online. There are plenty of famous and well-reputed websites that are home for e-books, authors, publishers and readers alike.

Two simple ways of becoming an e-book author/publisher: There are two very simple ways in which anyone can become an e-book author/publisher. The first way is for those who have a passion for writing and also have the required skills to write the e-book themselves.

  • Do it yourself:  As mentioned above this way is for those people who have a passion for writing. But passion alone does not make you a good writer. One needs to have a good grip on the language, needs to have proper knowledge on the subject they’re writing on and also need to have a good know-how of who their audience is and what they want to read about. These, of course, are the most basic things that one should take care of before they get into writing. Other than the basics, a writer should be very careful in making his/her work as presentable and attractive as possible. In today’s world, people have a very short attention span, they don’t usually prefer reading at all, so in a world with people like this, if you want to succeed as a good writer then you need to make your work as attention capturing as possible.
  • Hire a Ghostwriter: Another way of becoming an e-book author/publisher is by hiring someone to do it for you. These days it’s very common. Authors hire people, pay them for their writing services, also known as best ghostwriting services, and then publish the content/material online. Where do I find these ghostwriters? That’s probably the first question that’s going to pop in your head. Well it's simple, you can find many good ghost writers online on freelance websites such as Upwork, Fiverr, Peopleperhour and many more. On average a professional ghostwriter might charge within a range of $50 to $70 per hour. They might also charge you per project and not per hour and per project might roughly cost you between ranges of $3000 to $50000, maybe even more depending on the project. Some of them might charge you per word and this might be falling in an estimated range of 50 cents per word to $3 per word and on an average, it might cost you around $1.5 per word.

So, one can easily become an author/publisher for e-books, given the fact that they either have a good know how of who their audience is or they’ve hired a very good writer who can write for them. If you want to publish your content/material on a larger scale and you want to make it a business like many authors already have then hiring a writer would be a better choice because one can publish a large volume of work this way and make good money out of it by selling them online. And once you’ve made a good reputation as an author/publisher than you can even start earning a passive income.

It’s known as the snow ball effect. Your income will slowly increase with each new e-book you publish. The more publications, the better it is as this will help grow your reputation as an author/publisher as well as your income and revenues by selling your books as well.
