Microsoft introduced a new feature for Windows 10 named “Clipboard Settings” to manage and adjust clipboard history through an interface window provided by Microsoft. This features offers various functions to perform any task by copying the past copied item. Users can paste that item by navigating the clipboard page even if the clipboard text is not new. 

Previously, copying and pasting a text was also popular to make the task smooth and quick, but that time we couldn’t adjust clipboards. This new feature allows users to adjust the history and other settings related to Clipboard. The clipboard history saves all the items that you have copied earlier such as text and images in a particular clipboard page.

Clipboard’s specifications

Microsoft upgrades the feature of Clipboard with the introduction of sync functionality into the same interface. After this feature, the works become easier as it provides various functions such as delete, mark, unmark and clearing of clipboard items. This function is based on your desire to choose the relevant option for a specific task.

Enabling Clipboard History

Clipboard history provides various features to its users as you can store more than one content in “Clipboard History.” Users can retrieve previous contents by copying and pasting the content where they wish. By default, the clipboard feature is disabled. If you turn the feature On you will get various features and clipboard accesses to modify your task.

  • First and foremost, tap Window logo and “I” Key simultaneously. It will launch the Windows Settings page on your PC.
  • Then, you have to tap on the “System” section.
  • After that, hit the option “Clipboard.”
  • Now, turn On the tab “Clipboard History” available on that particular page.

Note: Alternatively, you can also switch On the Clipboard set up feature manually by tapping Window and “V” keys simultaneously. After that, hit the Turn On option when the prompt appears.

Searching Clipboard History

  • First and foremost, hit the Window logo and V keys altogether to launch Clipboard History. It will recommend you about possible apps just beneath the blinking cursor. This is the location where you can use and paste these contents such as Notepad, MS Words etc.
  • Then scroll down the clipboard page and then select the particular content.
  • Now, paste on your desired application page or text editor.

Adjusting “Clipboard Settings” by Pinning an Item

  • First and foremost, expand the clipboard history by tapping the Window logo and V keys simultaneously.
  • After that, search your desired content or data that you wish to save. Then select it and then hit the menu icon located at the top-right hand side edge of your screen.
  • Now, select the available option “Pin” to perform pinning. You can also do the same by tapping Shift + P keys at one go as an alternative method.
  • In case you wish to delete the pinned content, it is recommended to hit the menu tab and then tap on “Unpin” button. Alternatively, you may also tap Shift and U keys together.

Clearing Clipboard Data

  • First and foremost, launch Settings application and then navigate to the section “System.”
  • After that, tap on the “Clipboard” option.
  • Go towards right side section “Clear clipboard data” and then hit the “Clear” tab there.
  • Once you apply to delete command to clear the contents, the particular option will convert to a grey color. The window will open no flash any confirmation alert regarding the same.
  • If you wish to check that the clipboard content is removed properly, then launch clipboard history by tapping the Window logo and V keys simultaneously. Then select your desired item and tap the menu icon. Finally, hit the option “Clear All.”

Deactivating Clipboard History

In case, you don’t want to keep previous contents of your Clipboard history, then you can deactivate the feature completely. Switching Off the feature will remove all the contents, even the pinned items.

  • First and foremost, tap the Start button and then press the cog symbol to launch Settings.
  • Then, hit the option “System.”
  • After that tap on “Clipboard” option that will be located at left-hand section pane.
  • Now, turn Off the feature. Now, your clipboard History is disabled fully.
