In the recent announcement about Xbox Series X, Microsoft has revealed some of the key information about the console. Additionally, with new technology, speed, performance, and many more compelling things, Xbox Series X will be able to support portable storage: the credit side goes with 1TB of expansion cards. Teaming up with Seagate, Microsoft is using 1TB of expansion cards and their own specific unique patent expansion cards regarding their upcoming Xbox Series X.

Minus the confusion, the card needs to slot on the console’s backside to make a rapid way to expand the in-built 1TB NVME SSD. To enhance the speed of console and perfect performance of the next generation of games, Microsoft is employing next-generation external SSD and internal NVME SSD. You should know that the games developed for Xbox Series X will require expansion cards and internal SSD.

Don’t worry if you have external storage hard drives (USB 3.1 +) because, in Xbox Series X, you can use it as well. The Speaker of Microsoft also has mentioned you can also launch Xbox 360, One, and OG Xbox console games straight from your USB HDD. Particular optimized games for the Xbox Series X console and Velocity Architecture can only run through expandable storage drives and internal SSD.

Seagate is currently the only manufacturer, but in future competition might get bigger if other drive manufacturer providers will provide cards at low prices for the consumers.

For better performance of load timing, in-built NVME SSD and expansion cards have made. Microsoft also proved it in the presentation that performance improved by 40 seconds from Xbox One X and showing the impact of SSD storage for the next-generation Xbox games. Effectively Microsoft also allowed multiple games on standby even if the console reboot for the update.

The reason for instant resuming games is because Microsoft catches everything that utilized in the RAM by the game and sends it directly to SSD. The exact amount of quick resuming games is not revealed, but at least there will be 3 games supported. Every game utilized different sizes of RAM, and depending on space, it quickly resumes the game.

Expansion cards of Xbox Series X are now in the spotlight, and having further information about it will make things more clear for people. Currently, the only thing is visible that expansion cards are essential for Xbox Series X, and let’s just hope these cards will launch at a reasonable price.
