Motorcycle and scooter tyres are just as strong as the pressure in them, which means testing them on a regular basis or loading them with nitrogen to keep pressures consistent for longer. Nitrogen gas has been used for many reasons, such as racing and aviation, but currently, the gas is also used commercially in ordinary motorcycle and scooter tyres in Sri Lanka. Tubeless motorcycle tyres in Sri Lanka are popular, and the most viable option available.

Nitrogen, according to statistics, is an inert gas and has multiple advantages over normal air tyres. Nitrogen does not leak out as easily through porous tyres as normal air does due to its relatively inert chemical structure. Thus, your tyres can maintain constant pressure throughout the journey, increasing the speed and performance of your motorcycle or scooter.

Because proper tyre pressure is critical to their efficiency, you don't have to worry about your tyres cracking or wearing out. The nitrogen keeps the pressure in the air stabilized, especially when the tyre gets heated up. This is also beneficial for the tyre’s total lifespan and eliminates rubber deterioration.

Air-inflated tyres usually corrode over time due to the amount of moisture present in them, but in nitrogen-filled tyres, you would have nothing to fret about-Nitrogen is a much drier gas compared to air, and because of the miniscule amount, it keeps the tyres cooler and longer-lasting.

However, despite the numerous benefits that nitrogen has, the gas does seem to have its drawbacks as well. Nitrogen does not come cheap – in fact, due to its increasing commonality in vehicles, the prices keep increasing. Hence, if you want to go for the free option of having air in your tyres and save costs, you should do your own calculations to see if the savings in tyre wear and improved performance make it financially viable.

If not, you can inspect your tire pressure at least once a week! Even if you use nitrogen, make sure to monitor your pressure on a regular basis because your tyre will still leak.
