Whether you are a chain smoker or someone who smokes a cigarette occasionally, if you are thinking about quitting the habit, then here are some ways in which you can quit smoking without letting the cravings take you down. There are many ways in which you can quit the habit, you can go cold turkey or gradually cut down on the smoke until you don’t smoke at all. There are many alternative ways as well that will help you quit easily. You can opt for hypnosis, acupuncture, laser smoking cessation, NRTs and various other ways to quit smoking. Try NRTs (Nicotine replacement therapy) –  There are many nicotine replacement therapies available in the market. Ask your doctor which nicotine replacement therapy is best for you. There are different types of NRTs, some of them are-

* Prescription nicotine in inhalers and nasal sprays

* Over the counter nicotine gums, lozenges, and patches

* Prescription non nicotine medications that help in stopping smoking like Varenidine (Chantix) and bupropion (Zyban).

These inhalers, nasal sprays, nicotine lozenges and gums help in overcoming the cravings to a great extent. These are safe to be used along with non nicotine medications and nicotine patches. Avoid the triggers- The cravings for cigarettes can be very intense at certain times, situations  and places where you have smoked tobacco often like after lunch, with the morning coffee or when at a party.
