The producer of the 5th Installment in the Indiana Jones franchise has revealed that James Mangold is rewriting the story for the upcoming film.

It has been at least a year since the time it was announced that James Mangold would be writing the script for the upcoming Indiana Jones film. However,  the film has not been publicly talked about since then.

There was a nineteen-year-old gap between the final two Indiana Jones films (i.e., The Last Crusade and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), so fans are not quite afraid of any “long wait” that the producers have to offer especially considering the fact that audience was not entirely impressed with whatever they saw in “The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”

However, now when we know that Disney’s stamp of approval will be there on the next Indiana Jones film, it will be interesting to see what producers and writers have in mind for the film.

Frank Marshall, who has been producing the films since the franchise’s inception, has revealed an update about the upcoming installation of the Indiana Jones franchise.

The producer has recently talked about Indiana Jones 5 in an interview that he gave to “Den of Geek.”

As it turns out, the chosen writer of the film James Mangold is currently brainstorming ideas for the script, and Frank Marshall has complete trust over his virtuosity. Marshall also revealed in the interview that the face of the franchise, Harrison Ford, will once again return for the fifth iteration to lead the cast. This revelation is in direct contract with certain reports that have emerged over the past few days that the franchise’s talisman Harrison Ford is done with the Indiana Jones universe.

Marshall acknowledged the fact that the film is still in the scripting stage, so nobody knows what the new Indiana Jones film will show to us. He added that there could only be one Indiana Jones in Hollywood and his name is Harrison Ford. He mentioned the film Ford V Ferrari and praised James Mangold. He said that all “Jim” cares about are characters and ultimately being able to tell a good story.

However, he did not shy away from saying that since he hasn’t read the script, he cannot add much more in the public domain.

It is needless to say that the development of the Indiana Jones film hasn’t been as smooth as many had imagined after Disney had acquired “Lucas” films. At one point, Steven Spielberg had said “yes” for the role of director for the upcoming project. However, it was not earlier than the initial months of this year that he decided to decline the offer and instead opted to be associated with the film as a producer.

For now, Disney has set the tentative release date for the film as of July the 29th, 2020, but that is likely to be changed.
