Pixar's Onward was released on March 6, 2020, seven days before theaters shut-down because of the continuous COVID-19 pandemic. Disney at that point chose to release the film on Disney+ a month later and attempted to hold off on Soul, deferring its release twice. It at that point at last chose to release the film on the streaming service on Christmas Day. Soul has so far proceeded to be an awards season powerhouse, having won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Film and being assigned for Best Animated Picture at the Academy Awards.
