“Big” is the biggest selling point of Maxus G10 Executive, which is mainly embodied in the luggage compartment and interior space, so it is very comfortable to ride.

It was also because the car was so big that it started a little slowly.

Many People in Malaysia may not know exactly where Maxus is. In fact, Maxus is a British commercial vehicle brand, mainly producing business reception vehicles, commuter coaches, urban logistics vehicles and so on. Saic acquired Maxus in 2009 and gave it a new name, Chase. Saic Recently launched its Maxus G10 Executive Multipurpose vehicle (MPV) in the local market, in two models, pilot-driven as Flagship models.

My first impression of the G10 Executive is that it is “big”, which is the car's biggest selling point. Let's start with the luggage compartment, which has 2,500 liters of space and can hold six golf bags. If you fold down the third row of seats, the space becomes even larger.

The car's three-circumference is 5,168mm long, 1,980mm wide and 1,928mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,198mm, which is longer than the 3,000mm of the rival Toyota Alphard and can comfortably accommodate seven people. The G10 Executive is arranged in a 2-2-3 seat arrangement. After entering the car, the middle aisle of the second row of seats leads to the third row of seats. As the passage is 320 mm wide, the third row of passengers can get on and off easily.

Passengers enter the car through the automatic sliding doors on both sides of the car. The automatic doors are equipped with intelligent anti-clamping design, which can detect obstacles and avoid accidents when closing the door. Generally, adults have no problem getting on and off the bus due to the high distance from the ground. The elderly and children may have difficulty getting on and off the bus, but the dealer is quite considerate, especially installing handrails and pedals at the entrance.

The second row of seats are two luxurious independent leather chairs that slide back and forth, nearly 180 degrees flat, and are equipped with electric leg rests, making passengers as comfortable as they would be on a luxury long-distance bus. The third row also slides back and forth, giving it plenty of room and two USB ports for easy charging, though the two small plastic caps that cover the USB ports are easily lost and poorly designed.

Cool air vents are evenly distributed

Remarkably, the G10 Executive's air conditioning system is not only quiet and cold, but also evenly distributed. There are six air conditioning vents above the middle and back seats, so you can be comfortably cool in any part of the car. The air conditioning temperature and wind force can be controlled from a control button above the second row of seats, or from the driver's seat.

The G10 Executive's interior is comfortable, and while leather and marble trim give the car a luxurious feel, some of the plastic items, such as the gear lever, dashboard and handrails, look plain and lack the touch of a premium material.

A highlight is the 10-inch central touch screen, which displays a variety of information, controls the sound system, and displays reversing images. There is a small LED screen next to the transmission, which is used to control the air-conditioning system. There's also a 10-inch LED screen above the second row that plays movies and provides entertainment on the road.

On the test drive side, the G10 Executive, which has a turbocharged engine, gets off to a slow start because of its size and can be a bit of a drag if it suddenly accelerates. The transmission system changes gear smoothly, the driving feeling is smooth, the car is easy to handle. However, you need to be careful when you turn or get in or out of a parking space, or you can easily scratch the body, so the G10 Executive is equipped with a 360-degree camera system for drivers to use when parking.

Automatically adjust driving height

The G10 Executive has a soft, comfort-oriented suspension system that USES the automatic height control system of the front MacPherson and the rear Nivomat. The Nivomat system, which is used by premium cars such as Volvo and Cadillac, doesn't have conventional shock absorbers and can automatically adjust the height to the optimal state, making the ride a comfortable experience.

For safety, the G10 Executive has two airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic stability control (ESP) and blind spot detection systems.

The downside of the car is that it USES a lot of fuel, the official figure is 11.7 litres per 100km, while the test drive is around 16 litres per 100km, which might be better with a diesel engine. In addition, the car's height is close to 2 meters, which does not meet the height limits of some parking lots. Buyers should be aware of this.

Overall, the G10 Executive's comfort, amenities and safety features are in place, making it a good choice for the current price compared to other MPVS of the same type.
