The festival falls in the month of Bhadra, the date of the festival varies annually, according to the Hindu calendar and in August/September according to the Gregorian calendar. This year, the ten-day celebrations will begin on September 10. On this day, Lord Ganesh is worshipped as the god of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune. It is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month.
