Microsoft Surface Book 3 is an upgraded, powerful, and versatile hybrid laptop. There are several variants of this device, and you can choose it as per your budget and requirement. It is a little expensive product, but it’s worth every single buck you spend.

What Is The First Impression Of This Product?

You will not get extra accessories in the box other than the product and its charger. It is quite frustrating that Microsoft doesn’t offer more than a one-month trial of Office 365. It is one of the major loopholes in most of Microsoft’s products.

It is relatively easy to set-up and use this device. It just takes your 10 minutes to link your Microsoft’s Surface account and configure things like your face lock. You will get Windows 10 Home pre-installed with the Surface Book 3.

Microsoft has chosen ports interestingly. It has two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, 3.5mm jack, and an SD card reader. But there is no Thunderbolt 3 support, which seems to be quite annoying. Microsoft Surface Book 3 has a dimension of 232 x 312 x 23mm, and it weighs around 1.6kg, which is the average weight of any laptop.

What About Its Looks?

If you have used any of the previous generation laptops, you won’t be able to spot any differences in their design. The third-generation Surface Book looks precisely similar to the previous generation laptops. It is a good thing that Microsoft has planned to continue with the design of their successful model.

One of the major downfalls of this laptop is a significant gap between the keyboard and screen. It reduces the natural protection, which is not safe for any device.

Undoubtedly, it is a reliable product but doesn’t have any feature that makes it stand out from the queue.

The screen has a ratio of 3:2, which is an average screen ratio. Microsoft uses PixelSense multi-touch IPS technology in this device. There is a backlight on the keyboard that looks fantastic. But it would be better if Microsoft uses a larger trackpad and a fingerprint scanner.

The device has two cameras, one is at the front, and the other is rear-facing.

What About Its Performance?

Your expectation might increase with a product with this price tag. Undoubtedly, the Surface Book 3 is more potent than mid-range laptops. Microsoft claims that your device is capable enough for playing games like Warzone and Fortnite without any issue.

Quad-core chips are used in this laptop, which is more than enough for any average user. Microsoft is shipping this product with 32GB RAM, which is enough for most users. But creative professionals like graphic designers and video editors need more memory.

One of the major disappointments with this product is its sound. The sound quality is average, but there is a scope of improvement.

The device has two batteries – one is on screen, and the other is on the keyboard. So, when you use both parts together, the battery life is good. If you use both pieces together, you will get eight hours of battery life. You need to keep your charger with you if you want to use it for a longer duration or want to use a screen without a keyboard.

Verdict

Surface Book 3 is not a perfect product, but it is a unique and versatile device. The majority of buyers might go for this product because of its hybrid nature, but if you don’t need this feature, you can go for a cheaper alternative.
