Xiaomi, a Chinese smartphone company, is working on a new version of its custom operating system, MiUI. While MiUI 12.5 has been anticipated for some time, Xiaomi’s India Head, Manu Kumar Jain, recently announced it while speaking with the company’s Facebook followers. Jain didn’t mention when the next update of MiUI would be out, but he did say it would be the “cleanest,” triggering rumors that Xiaomi might eliminate advertising from its phones. However, given that advertisement is one of the ways Xiaomi makes money and keeps its smartphones inexpensive, we’d be shocked if it did.

The company has been testing MiUI 12.5 in China for a while, and sources say that it has already released beta testing forms for the India ROM. The Indian government blocked Xiaomi’s Mi Group India app last year, so the firm would have to find new ways to send out trial forms to its fans and users.

As MiUI runs on Mi, Redmi, and Poco smartphones, so here’s a list of compatible devices:

Xiaomi Mi

Xiaomi’s Mi 10, Mi 10T Pro, Mi 10T, Mi 10i are the latest offering from Xiaomi and will support the upcoming MiUI 12.5 update.
